2018-2019 NHL Thread – Thunderstorm Warning

I did consider making a comment about how it's yet another reason to hate the rednecks in NC.

But I held back

With ~70% of the season completed, Sports Club Stats currently projects these playoff matchups:

Montreal
New York Rangers

Ottawa
Toronto
-
Washington
New York Islanders*

Pittsburgh
Columbus
--
Minnesota
Los Angeles

Chicago
St. Louis
-
San Jose
Nashville

Edmonton
Anaheim

*Boston actually has a higher overall chance to make the playoffs over NYI, because they could pass Toronto, but the NYI have a higher chance of grabbing the final Wild Card at this point.

The NHL should really rethink the way they seed the playoffs. My Columbus Blue Jackets currently sit at 3rd in the Metro. If they stay there or even move up to second, they have a first round date with Pittsburgh. If they drop to the first wild card, they get Montreal.

Maybe that's why they've played about .500 hockey since the streak ended.

So it begins

Patrick Eaves to Anaheim for conditional 2cd round pick.

Hope he signs back in Dallas this summer

That seems like.... not a lot to give up for Kevin Shattenkirk.

Well, there's always the next must win, Rag fans.

Edit - but seriously, grabbing the first WC is much better than any of the top 3 Metro slots.

It's kind of ridiculous that the 2nd and 3rd best regular season Eastern Conference teams will play in the first round, with the winner likely playing the best Eastern Conference team.

The Blueshirts are in a very good position...on paper.
