McCreary Indoor Practice Center - Collegiate Arms Race Thread

I have a sister that goes there. She injured her leg and they picked her up and took her to class on a golf cart, which is ridiculous. She seems to have a pretty heavy workload and is happy about the level of instruction she is receiving. Gets undergrad in May and starts PA school in June.
 
We're building stuff like this in the middle of one of our worst decades of basketball, are in the ACC, on Tobacco Road, were one of the Top 25 teams in the country for multiple decades pre-[Redacted], and can certainly pay market rate...but people are worried that we can't attract a coach because our fan base doesn't have patience for more than 4 years of failure from a new coach.

You joke about this, but its true. I had to cover a news story held in a class at HPU and they had the nice cocktail nut mix and those cute bottles of Coke and Sprite. I was a happy news shooter that day.

Doesn't help that Wellman is a dunce and typically insults coaching prospects and current hires with low-ball offers on contracts. Shouldn't a prestigious, well-endowed, largely successful in D-1 sports university such as WFU be willing to pay $2.5-3.2M for a legit proven known commodity BB coach? And yet we can't even hire Shaka away from VCU??

No doubt that the folks who have the funds to pay for a Manning buyout would need to request that Wellman be removed from the process and start packing his office in prep for retirement sometime in the next 2-4 years. But the Shaka hire had nothing to do with $$. We just wouldn't offer Mrs. Shaka a tenured professorship or some such BS that RJ made up.

Getting some spring practice time in chilly, football type weather could be a good thing for the team. A little reminder of what a cold football feels like when it hits your hands.
