Chicago Cubs Thread - Playoff Push Pending

Following on tracker so it's hard to tell, but any insight on why Lester is missing the zone so much today? Just a little off?
Just not sharp. Warren gets out of the sixth inning jam. He's been outstanding. Rizzo launches a shot to CF to lead off the seventh. 5-0.

Yep. Nationals series this week will be a lot of fun it seems. Four game slate and the Nats are just destroying today...10 runs in the third already.

Bryant singled in the 9th off melancon, hit streak up to 10 games - nice to see him on a good stride.

Zany suits seemed to work. Cubs sweep. Outscore Bucs 20-6 in the series.. Pirate announcers are impressed. Back to Chicago to play four against Washington, three against the Padres and three against the Pirates.

Let's get Dusty to overwerk those starters. Shame we won't see Straus

It looks like Ben Zobrist is beginning to get the hang of batting fifth. Then Russell adds to the lead with a double. Cubs 5-0.

Decided to look it up. Zobrist numbers since dropping to the five hole: AB 40, R 8, H 14, TB 24, D 2, HR 3, RBI 16, W 7, K 7, AVG .350, OBP .447, SLG .625.

Final: Cubs 5 - Nationals 2.

I'm not watching what did fowler do?

Called third strike at the very top of the zone to end the inning. Fowler flips his bat while still standing in the box and tosses his helmet. Never said a word, never looked at the umpire. Fowler starts to walk back to the dugout, ump says something to him, he turns around and says something back, and gets tossed.

Zo is on a tear - just went deep as part of a back-to-back with Rizzo. Lackey needs to make this standup - Scherzer is at 60 pitches through 3 innings, so we might not see him for much longer, but 4 runs is about all you can expect against him.

It appears as if LaStella and Baez have played their way into the everyday line up. Soler and whoever needs a day off are on the bench. Bryant to the outfield. I can never be sure with Maddon. It's one of the reasons I like him. Any thoughts?

Zobrist with two HR's and 4RBI's so far today. He likes hitting fifth and protecting Rizzo. Cubs 7-2 and hitting in the fifth.
