2017 Football Recruiting

East Forsyth over West Forsyth tonight 24-21. Madison Cone with a late game interception to close the deal for East. And by interception, I mean he went up (way up) and caught a very well thrown pass that was in the receiver's hands. He seriously jumped over him and managed to take the ball from him with no pass interference.

Good performance from Christian Beal. Went out with some kind of injury late in the game. Maybe a cramp or he possibly landed wrong when he laid out for a catch. He was swarmed all night.

Chrishon Springs was solid tonight as well.

It looks like there are a number of 2017 recruits planning on attending the game on Saturday. The biggest name so far is QB Daulton Hyatt (Arab, AL). Hyatt is one of the 2017 QBs that Wake is most heavily involved with. I'll post more info on him later today.

Here are the 2017 visitors for tomorrow that I know of:

Recruits with Offers:
QB Daulton Hyatt (Arab, AL) – offers from Wake Forest, Miami, Syracuse and Vanderbilt. Has taken unofficial visits this fall to Alabama and Mississippi State. Camped this summer at Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UNC, N.C. State and Auburn.
DE Mike Allen (Buford, GA) – See the Big Board writeup in the OP for this thread.
LB/S Solon Page (Marietta, GA) – See the Big Board writeup in the OP for this thread.

Key Recruits without a Wake Offer (Yet):
WR Jalen Barr (Lake City, SC)
WR Cam Burnette (Summerville, SC)

If it’s not pouring rain tomorrow COME OUT. We need a good showing for the recruits!

Come out anyway. It's just rain.

I hope they are understanding. It will be a bad day to make a good impression!

Unless we win, of course.

A brief update on yesterday's post:

WR OrTre Smith is a "maybe" for today's game. Smith is one of the 4-stars that Wake might have a little traction with. He is Rivals #61 overall recruit in the country for 2017. He is also a teammate of 2016 Wake-commit Johnny Ray.

OL Seth Harrell (Chesapeake, VA) is another guy that is expected to attend. He is a 3-star on Rivals and the #14 overall offensive guard in the country. He is still looking for his first offer, however a number of ACC schools have been recruiting him hard for a while. He thinks NC State, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech are the closest to offering.

WR Jalen Barr (Lake City, SC) tweeted that he is rescheduling his visit to Wake because of the weather.

Beal with a 76 yard TD run last night as East takes care of HPC, 37-18.

I’ve mentioned before that QB recruiting has been much of the early focus in the 2017 class. There are plenty of names in the mix for Wake, but I’m watching 3 recruits a little closer than the others.

Daulton Hyatt (Arab HS / Arab, AL)
Rating: 3-star (5.6), #15 overall in Alabama, QB Hit List’s #22 Pro-Style QB
P5 Offers: Wake Forest, Miami, Vanderbilt and Syracuse
Visited Wake: June 2015. May have attended the FSU game.
Other Notes: **Already one Crystal Ball prediction to Wake Forest**. Scout’s Chad Simmons also reported that Wake leads in Hyatt’s recruitment. Hyatt camped at a number of schools this summer including Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, N.C. State, Wake Forest and Vanderbilt. Was a reportedly a top performer at Vanderbilt’s camp. Has made unofficial visits to Alabama and Mississippi State this fall. He reportedly likes Ole Miss a lot. HS team is very young and hasn’t had much success this season. As a result, I’m not expecting Hyatt’s stats to be eye-popping.

Tanner Morgan (Ryle HS / Union, KY)
Rating: 3-star, #4 overall in Kentucky, QB Hit List’s #38 Pro-Style QB
P5 Offers: Wake Forest and Louisville
Visited Wake: April 2015 and July 2015
Other Notes: Wake Forest was the first to offer and he has been very positive about Wake ever since. He even tweeted at one point about wanting to get some Wake gear. A late September article had his 2015 stats as 1,300 yards and 10 TDs. Before the season he said that Wake, Louisville, Purdue and Illinois were among the teams trying to get him to come to a game. He specifically mentioned how much he would like to see a game at Wake, but didn’t know if it would be possible with his HS football schedule and the travel distance. So far this season he has made unofficial visits to Louisville and Indiana. Morgan was featured in a national media story because he works with a top QB coach remotely using a variety of technologies.

Kasim Hill (Gilman School / Baltimore, MD)
Rating: 3-star / Rivals #13 pro-style QB in the country / QB Hit List #21 Pro-Style QB
Other P5 Offers: Boston College, Michigan State, Northwestern, Iowa, Penn State and Syracuse
Visited Wake: July 2015
Other Notes: He has Crystal Ball predictions for 3 schools (Penn State, Syracuse and Michigan State). Attended camps at UNC and Penn State this summer. Reportedly did well at Elite 11 in the DC-area regional. Took over the starting job at Gilman following the graduation of 4-star Texas commit Kai Locksley. On the first day of the contact period Hill reportedly heard from Northwestern, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Penn State and Pitt.

Others QBs that have offers and appear to be in the picture:

Lindell Stone (Woodberry Forest, VA) - slight UVA-lean
Todd Centeio (West Palm Beach, FL) - early N.C. State lean
Shon Mitchell (Chesapeake, VA) – visited and camped at Wake in July 2015

QB prospect

No clue if is real, but lots of chatter around town that Bartram Trail soph QB committed to Wake

The one that is supposed to be a lock to FSU?!? He talked about committing early, but it seemed it would be to FSU, unless Auburn could sway him. Wow, if true.
