QUARTERBACKS

Daulton Hyatt (Arab, AL)
Measurables: 6’4 /176, 4.83 forty. 31 inch vertical. (May 2015)
Rivals Ranking: #22 Pro-Style QB in the country. 3-star.
QB Hit List Ranking: #27 Pro-Style QB in the country
Offered by Wake On: June 12
Other P5 Offers: Miami, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Syracuse, Louisville, Mizzou and Illinois
Most Recent P5 Offer: Mizzou
Visits: Louisville (2/20)
Notes: Hyatt named Wake Forest his leader in October. Hyatt said he fell in love with Wake’s campus. There is a 247 crystal ball prediction for Hyatt to Wake Forest. Visited Ole Miss and Alabama in October and Vanderbilt in November. October article said that interest from programs like Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss was increasing. HS team went 1-10 this past season.

Taylor Powell (Fayetteville, AR)
**Attended Junior Day**
Measurables: 6’1 / 185. 24 inch vertical. (March 2015)
Rivals Ranking: 3-star
QB Hit List Ranking: #29 Pro-Style QB in the country
Offered by Wake On: December 3
Other P5 Offers: Maryland and Illinois
Notes: Looks like a candidate to be a breakout recruit nationally. Had a big junior year statistically (3,600 passing yards and 49 passing TDs) and led his team to the Class 7A state championship. Highlights are drool-worthy at times. HS team switched from pro-style offense to no-huddle spread last season. Visited Oklahoma State twice, including as recently as November. Visited Pitt, Illinois and West Virginia last summer. He said last month that Notre Dame is trying to get him to visit.
HUDL Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1374780/taylor-powell

Todd Centeio (West Palm Beach, FL)
Measurables: 5’11 / 193. 33-inch vertical (February 2015)
Rivals Ranking: #14 Dual-Threat QB in the country
QB Hit List Ranking: #26 Pro-Style QB in the country
Offered by Wake On: August 9
Other P5 Offers: Miami (decommitted in May), Nebraska, Indiana and N.C. State
Most Recent P5 Offer: Wake Forest in August.
Notes: Centeio hasn’t added any new offers since the summer. There are some questions about whether his height is limiting his market value.
HUDL Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2985649/todd-centeio

Tanner Morgan (Union, KY)
Measurables: 6’0 / 197, 5.23 forty. 25 inch vertical. (May 2015)
Rivals Ranking: 3-star
QB Hit List Ranking: #68 Pro-Style QB in the country.
Offered by Wake On: April 16
Other P5 Offers: Louisville
Most Recent P5 Offer: Louisville in May
Why I Ranked Him #5: He looked to be very high on Wake last spring after his offer, but I haven’t seen anything connecting him and Wake recently. If I were to get some evidence that Wake is still actively recruiting him he would move up this list.
Notes: Morgan visited Indiana and Louisville in September, Purdue and Cincinnati in October and Western Kentucky and Michigan State in November. Then Indiana again in December. Morgan was featured in a national media story because he works with a top QB coach remotely using a variety of technologies.
HUDL Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3702379/tanner-morgan

Myles Brennan (Bay Saint Louis, MS)
Measurables: 6’3 / 172, 5.08 forty. 24-inch vertical. (March 2015)
Rivals Ranking: 3-star
QB Hit List Ranking: #20 pro-style QB in the country
Offered by Wake On: December 9
Other P5 Offers: Cal, Kentucky and West Virginia
Most Recent P5 Offer: Wake Forest, but West Virginia (October) was also recent
Notes: May be one of the most prolific passers in high school football history. Needs 28 passing TDs next season to become #10 all-time according to records kept by the National Federation of State High School Associations. Posted an incredible 5,248 yards and 53 TDs passing in his junior season. Those numbers are actually DOWN from his sophomore year. He reduced his INTs from 14 as a sophomore to 8 as a junior. Already one 247 Crystal Ball prediction for Cal. Visited Mississippi State in November.
HUDL Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2564882/myles-brennan

Johnathan Lewis (St. Peter’s Prep / Jersey City, NJ)
Rivals Rating: 3-stars (5.6), Rivals #25 Dual-Threat QB in the country
QB Hit List Ranking: #19 Dual-Threat QB in the country
Other P5 Offers: Boston College (May 2015), Iowa, Rutgers and Georgia (previous staff)
Notes: A true dual-threat. Unofficial measurements are 6’3 / 205. He titled his junior year highlights “Ballin Like Cam”. Completed 118 of 189 passes for 1,669 yards and 19 TD against only 3 INTs in his junior season. Rushed for 501 yards and 8 TDs. Lewis hasn’t planned his upcoming visits yet. There is surprisingly little info about him available on the internet.
Junior Days Attended: Rutgers (2/13)
HUDL Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3792363/johnathan-lewis

Other P5 Offers: N.C. State and Kentucky
Measurables: Was 6’2 / 173 at Nike-Atlanta in March 2015.
Notes: Wake Forest was his first offer. Wake has also offered his teammate Eugene Brown. Attends the same HS that Cameron Glenn attended, but a school that also has a history of sending players to Kentucky. Invited to play in Georgia’s Rising Seniors Game.
Hudl Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2759719/khalil-newton

Rating: 3-star (5.6), #63 overall recruit in Georgia
Other P5 Offers: South Carolina, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kansas State, and N.C. State
Notes: Terrell caught fire very recently. His first P5 offer was South Carolina on February 13. Since then he has picked up five more in an 11-day period. Georgia Tech is recruiting Terrell as a DB. Recently visited Georgia (no offer). He says that South Carolina, Kansas State and Wake Forest are recruiting him the hardest. Played in Georgia’s Rising Seniors all-star game.
Other Visits: South Carolina (February 13), N.C. State (February 21)
Hudl Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4251301/chad-terrell

Dmitri Emmanuel (Marvin Ridge HS / Waxhaw, NC)
**Attended Junior Day**
Rating: 3-star (5.6), #16 OG in the country, #17 overall recruit in NC
Other P5 Offers: Boston College and UNC
Measurables: Was 6’2 /316 at Nike-Charlotte in May 2015.
Notes: Visited Wake Forest for a game this fall. Had really nice things to say about Wake recently – his parents like Wake, and he has a good relationship with the coaches. Said in October that Wake Forest was recruiting him the hardest. Keeps in touch with Marvin Ridge alum KJ Brent, who has told him a lot about Wake. I expect Emmanuel will stay close to home for college. Wake and UNC are the early favorites to land him.
Hudl Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2834237/dmitri-emmanuel
Twitter ID: @DmitriEmmanuel

Will Taylor (Grayson HS / Loganville, GA)
Rating: 3-star (5.6), #5 offensive center in the country
Other P5 Offers: Duke, UNC, Illinois, Boston College and Vanderbilt
Notes: Wake Forest offered on January 12 and was his 6th P5 offer. Duke was his first P5 offer in October. Visited Vanderbilt in November and Vandy has established themselves as the early favorite. Taylor was selected for Georgia’s Elite Junior Classic in December. Has had some injuries that have limited the amount of film that is available. Tom Lemming called him “a blue chipper who is athletic, smart and coachable”. Listed as an OC, he could project to other OL positions at the college level.
Junior Days Attended: Georgia Tech (1/31), Duke (2/13)
Hudl Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3902861/will-taylor
Twitter ID: @big_reddd

Carson Van Lynn (Kilbourne / Columbus, OH)
Rating: 3-star (5.5), #29 overall recruit in Ohio
Other P5 Offers: Boston College, Iowa State and Kentucky
Notes: Wake Forest offered on January 6 and was his 3rd P5 offer. Reportedly measures 6’7/235. Versatile athlete could project at OL, TE or DE at the college level, but most think OT is the most likely position. His cousin plays for Duke and has a close relationship with Van Lynn. Duke would immediately become the favorite if they were to offer. Van Lynn visited Michigan State and Kentucky this fall. Notre Dame also hosted him for their game at Pitt in November.
Hudl Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2504706/carson-van-lynn

Brady Scott (Mount Paran Christian School / Kennesaw, GA)
** Visited Wake in February **
Rating: no Rivals profile yet
Other P5 Offers: none
Notes: More well-known as a baseball recruit, where Scott’s 6’6 / 260 frame makes him an imposing RHP. Currently committed to South Carolina for baseball. Was shut down for part of last year with elbow soreness. Very little info on him as a football recruit. Wake offered him for football, it is unclear if he would also play baseball at Wake.
Wake Visit Date: February 12

Twitter: @Bmscott21

Zach Quinney (Savannah Christian Prep / Savannah, GA)

Measurables: 6’5 / 239 at Rising Seniors practice in December
Notes: Quinney received his first college offer on February 3. GT was Quinney’s first P5 offer on February 8. Wake offered at Junior Day on February 20. Kentucky and Duke appear to be the other schools involved. Should project as an OT at the college level. Camped at Tennessee last summer. Played in Georgia’s Rising Seniors all-star game. Wants a valuable degree.
Other Visits: Visited Georgia Tech on January 31 (Junior Day) and Kentucky on February 6 (Junior Day).

Notes: Pitt was his first P5 offer last June. Has a strong relationship with the Pitt staff. Grew up a fan of Pitt and West Virginia. Has one Crystal Ball prediction for Pitt. He has trips planned to Penn State, Iowa State and Maryland. Probably an OT at the college level.

Rating: 4-star, #11 strongside DE in the country, #10 overall recruit in Virginia
Other P5 Offers: Notre Dame, Clemson, N.C. State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Maryland, UNC, Pitt, Virginia, Tennessee and USC
Notes: Four-star DE has visited Wake, is close with LaRonde Liverpool, and tweets occasionally about Wake. Wake Forest offered on October 24. Reportedly already 6’5 / 270. Visited Clemson, UNC, Penn State and Wake Forest for game days last fall. Wants to major in Sports Medicine. Recorded 12 tackles for loss, 5 sacks and 7 pass deflections last season.

Notes: Teammate of 2016-commit Malik Grate at Class 2A Pendleton HS (10 minutes from Clemson, SC). 6’3 and 210 pounds. Will need to continue to add weight to stay at DE. Just turned 16 this month. Highlights are very impressive. Was initially a 4-star on 247, but it looks like they have since backed off that rating. Already one Crystal Ball for Clemson even though they haven’t offered. CORNERBACKS

Madison Cone (East Forsyth HS / Kernersville, NC)

Other P5 Offers: Boston College, Duke, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin
Offer Date: 2014. One of the staff’s first offers for the 2017 class.
Last Confirmed Visit to Wake: July 18 (for underclassman camp)
Notes: Teammate of 2017-commit Christian Beal. Virginia Tech and Duke were reportedly leading Wake, but that was before the Wisconsin offer. Plays basketball for Team CP3.
Twitter ID: @_the_future21
Links: 247 profile
January Update: Now up to 21 career interceptions. Added an offer from Virginia. Received a Crystal Ball prediction for Duke. Lots of unofficial visits: NCSU, UNC, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest (for the Wake-Duke game) and Duke (he was at the Duke-Miami game). In his last interview he mentioned only Wisconsin, Virginia and Duke, but the interviewer asked him specifically about those schools. He declined to name a favorite. He’s in a lot of contact with Tennessee, Georgia, Clemson, UNC and NCSU and is waiting to see if those schools offer. Named All-Area by the Winston-Salem Journal. Plans to study business, so that puts Wake in a great position. Cone measured 5’8.5 at the Nike Combine in May 2015. He’s already got a great offer list for a CB that height (and we are still a year away from signing day). That validates that the kid must be a player.

Aapri Washington (Mountain Island Charter / Mount Holly, NC)

Other P5 Offers: Ole Miss, Boston College, Kentucky, Mississippi State, TCU, Syracuse and West Virginia

For example, while playing both RB and CB in one game he rushed 16 times for 402 yards and 4 TDs on offense and added 8 tackles and two INTs on defense. Cousin of oft-discussed 2016 RB Robert Washington. Aapri travelled with Robert to a lot of his college visits.

Kadarius Toney (Blount HS / Mobile, AL)
Rating: 2-star
Other P5 Offers: Georgia Tech and South Carolina (2/25)
Notes: A dual-threat QB who I think will end up at a P5 program as an ATH, but QB is certainly not out of the question. South Alabama offered him as a QB. Second team all-state QB in the 6A classification. First team Coastal Alabama. Passed for 3,604 yards and 36 TDs (against just 11 INTs), while also rushing for 896 yards and 16 TDs. Unofficially 6’0 / 180. Scout’s John Garcia had high praise for Toney’s natural instincts and compared him to current Alabama WR ArDarius Stewart. Toney visited Alabama in October and Auburn in November. Has shared some video clips from workouts that are awe-inspiring (throwing the ball 75 yards, making a leaping one-handed catch). I could see a lot more offers coming his way.

The first thing that stood out to me about this class was how many recruits had teammates or former teammates at Wake or committed to Wake. Brad Johnson (Malik Grate), Chase Monroe (Cade Carney), Sincere David (Kahlil Welsh), and Madison Cone (Christian Beal) all fell into that category.

A heavy North Carolina focus (5 of 13) was no surprise. That is roughly the same as last year.

Would you please consider adding links to the prospects twitter accounts and 247 profiles on your big board?

Three of the six NC kids that have been offered are from Winston.

Have we been in contention for a Winston area football player comparable to CP or Giles? Have there been 5* players from Winston recently and did they in state? AJ Nicholson is the only one I can think of and he was a long time ago.

I don't know if anyone had him as a 5 but Shy Tuttle was as high a 4 as you can go. Went to Tennessee last year

His brother Derek was a 4* too, IIRC. What a waste of talent those two were.

Raeshon McNeil was likely a high 4* or 5*. I think he had a cup of coffee in the league.

Isaiah Thomas went to UNC from W-S as #3 player in NC. I think he ended up getting arrested and never playing again after that.

94, do you have any info on '17 OL from Eastern Alamance who reportedly has an offer from us and numerous P5 schools?

Jonah Melton. Very high-end OL. Borderline 5-star. Currently Rivals #2 overall recruit in the state. Early favorites are N.C. State, UNC and South Carolina. He has already visited N.C. State 3-4 times. Same with UNC. Says he plans to attend UNC and N.C. State games this fall.

Thanks.

EA has a 6'4" 220lb. Freshman (14) from Africa who is a very good athlete but has never played FB. Might bear watching.

Not sure. DE I think. I haven't seen him, the HC mentioned him in a meeting where I was present. Someone else said that the kid is much more physically developed than most 14 year olds.

Apparently he is quick.

Today is a kickoff day of sorts for the 2017 class. Certain types of contact are now permitted (i.e. schools sending recruiting materials). For many recruits it probably started at 12:01am.

I haven't seen any info yet on visitors for the Elon game, but I am sure that there will be some. Last year Wake had a number of important visitors for the Gardner-Webb game. Personally, I would rather that recruits not attend the Thursday game against the FCS opponent. It's not exactly our best game day experience, so we aren't putting our best foot forward. On the other hand, Taleni Suhren was one of the recruits that attended the Gardner-Webb game last year, so maybe we have the same luck this year.

Remember most of these kids are the best player on their team and they have their final walk-through practice on Thursday and will need to be back at school on Friday morning, so they can play their game that night. If a kid shows up right at game time (after their practice) and leaves during the game to get back home, that isn't much of a visit and the coaches won't get any time with the recruit.

Unless a kid's team has a bye week, I would expect limited visits.
