2015 Football Coaching Carousel: Southern Miss HC to Tampa Bay

Good point by SVP just now comparing Les Miles' 3 straight losses to put him on the hot seat to Memphis' 3 straight losses that don't seem to be hurting Fuentes stock.

But it's not like LSU is firing Miles for Fuentes. LSU has a different set of standards and bankroll from like 99% of schools.

2015 Football Coaching Carousel: Syracuse Fires Their Coach

Unless LSU has a blue chip candidate lined up such as Kelly or Fisher, then firing Miles is insane. Dude is easily a top 10 coach in college football.

And LSU isn't a top five job organically. It's only a top program because of the work of Saban and Miles.

It's no better than 5 or 6 other SEC schools. Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn and A&M all have similar resources. Ole Miss and South Carolina aren't too far behind.

Good luck corndogs. Gerry DiNardo is probably available.

Ah, for the good ole days when a 3 game losing streak was our longest at Wake....

In the good ole days a losing streak of only 3 games was a reason to celebrate. Unless they were the first 3 games of the season.

That was his point. The "haves" in college football have incredible resources and unrealistic expectations. Fuente is still considered to be an excellent coach and a prospect for top jobs, a reasonable standard.

He may be a great recruiter but he is an AWFUL in game coach.

Good luck getting both.

I agree that LSU better have someone lined up for the job before they dismiss Miles. He can assemble a ton of talent but like Calipari in basketball is just not that great strategy wise.

On the flip side talent wise I think it is easily top 5. It is a big talent rich state and they don't have to compete with anyone in state for it. Other teams can come in and poach a few but they will always get the best (similar to UGA in this aspect) talent. The rest of the SEC has at least one other competitor in state for the talent and sometimes 2 (see Florida and A&M).

I still think Patterson is the call here.

Louisiana produces a ton of NFL talent, and LSU has no in-state competition (unlike Florida, Texas or even Georgia). By way of example, LSU had the most players on NFL rosters of any school. To start the 2015 season, LSU had 40, Miami (talk about under achieving) had 37, USC 35, Bama and UGA had 34.

Would say that on an year in year out basis, the talent level readily available to LSU is as good, if not better, than any college football program. Saban and Miles were able to keep the best in-state talent at home; the next coach will have to do the same, but it is far above anyone other than possibly Bama in its ability to consistently draw talent.

VT insiders claim that VT has hired former Clemson OC and current SMU head coach Chad Morris. They also say Bud Foster will be retained as Defensive Coordinator.

I've read that Chad Morris wants the South Carolina job.
