2016 NASCAR Thread - 7 Time!

If you have a hot pass, don't stand in front of any open garage stalls, a car could fly in there. If in the garage and someone grabs/pushes you, go in the direction they push..they are getting you out of the way.

Don't touch anything and have a lot of fun.

I covered the Dover races over 2 decades ago, I hear it is a million times better now. I would love to see the cars while standing on the walk way over the track.

Practice was so much fun....one side of the garage was super skinny, so you learned quick to keep your head on a swivel. Danica's engine blew up, wiped out Tony Stewart and he walked by looking soooooo happy. Everything of there's was next to each other, so we went over there to watch everything unfold. Then she walked by and almost touched my butt.

I need to go through all of my pictures but I got a bunch of standard car shots and the driver intros, a couple from the big wreck towards the end, hopefully some good ones of a pit stop from setting up in an open pit (Regan Smith crashed early so we set up camp and watched Keslowski's stops), and maybe the chaos entering victory lane but I'm not hopeful. It was a really fun event to photograph.

Looks like Saturday could be a rainout at the All-Star Race.

In better new though, KyBu announced his Darlington Throwback, and I definitely approve.

I need to do more filtering through my photos, but I'll post some from my friend who is actually a professional with better equipment...I was with him most of the time on Friday and Sunday, including during that crash. I think my photo is right when first contact was made in the crash, but I'm not sure - I'll post those when I have them sorted and rehosted (I don't like attaching on this board), I took way more than I expected.

Really impressive performance by the 2 car to come back from the fender issues. JGR is class of field right not but Kes looks like championship material if things fall in line.

They must have needed to adjust things four or five times in the last 100 laps or so.....they were pretty pumped with their finished (8th?)

The Showdown this morning was quite exciting. I'm sick of Danica taking a fan vote spot from the young guns with promise that actually can put up a fight like Blaney and Dillon.

That format ended up being absolutely ridiculous. I obviously didn't foresee the problems with it beforehand but it's not my job and I spend about five minutes looking at it. More All-Star changes coming for sure. However, it was at least exciting.

Its sad when the drivers, teams, and ultimately the official cant even understand the rules. There was even some profanity on the officials radio channel last night during the confusion.

Apparently Kes came up with the idea for the format. It came from the drivers council, be he threw out most of the ideas.

This is what happens when you try to artificially create excitement by using a bunch of stupid gimmicks.

This entire weekend should be eliminated, anyway. This isn't racing. It's a circus sideshow.

They just need to make it simpler.

Have the 2 50 lap heats. Divide the field into two groups based on points, every other driver into each group. Top 10 finishers in each heat runs in a 20 lap dash. Restart order based on fastest lap? IDK.

You could still have your afternoon qualifiers for the noobs/youngsters, but no more than 2 get into the heats. The All Star race should be for the vets anyway. Do away with the inversion restarts and the fan favorite voting crap. Make Danica earn it.
