This freshman class was our 3rd straight top 25 recruiting class.

We lost today to 2-9 Hampton.

Anybody know what the hell is going on here? We are much worse than we were before our recruiting supposedly picked up.

The best players Campbell and Stephenson are shooting about 20 percent. They were 3-24 today. They do have some injuries but horrible loss today. They just picked up a freshman for second semester from overseas who looks like she could help.
 
Oddly enough, I put the new addition press release on our site earlier today and checked record and stats and thought, 'oh, 8-3 isn't too bad considering how short handed they've been.' Then they lost to Hampton. Hard to explain, to be honest.
 
people actually care about woman's basketball and go to those games? one wouldn't think it was much of a factor is raising any money but is does cost wake forest almost one million in scholarships alone. god knows it does not pay for itself but neither does baseball or track for that matter. guess it is time to move along.
 
Players that should be on team but who have transferred, have eligibility issues or are injured:
Mykia Jones transferred to Georgetown
Nicole Floyd transferred to Fordham
Keri Fulp can't play anymore due to injuries
Kelila Atkinson out all season due to injury
Taylor Gordon out all season due to injury
Jill Brunori missed all last season due to injury and has not yet played this season
Kortni Simmons missed last few games due to injury
Destiny Walker missed last few games due to injury
Clarisse Berranger initially cleared by NCAA as grad student from France. NCAA changed their mind and now requires her to sit out this year.
Elisa Penna just became eligible and played first game today. She was on Italy's U20 team that won a medal at Euro Championships and made all tourney team.

Next year we bring in four 4 star players:
6'3" Tyra Whitehead
6'2" Una Udoh
6'3" Raegyn Branch
6'0" Alex Sharpe who starred for Australia at the U20 World Championships. They lost to the US in the semis.

If everybody shows up next year and is healthy we will likely have the best team Wake has ever had. But that is a big IF given our history. In addition to those mentioned we will return our 3 most productive players: Ariel Stevenson, Amber Campbell and Milan Quinn.

That's really a moot point. Usually just one or two programs at each school (typically football and men's basketball) are profitable, and they flip the bill for everything else that is accomplished in the athletic department. There are some outliers, of course, but that's standard for all schools.
 
If all that was true why then would UNC create such an elaborate cheating scheme for their Women's BBall team when the Men's team was the one making them all the money? Lots of good info here. Too bad about Jones and Floyd as they had a lot of potential. Looks like we have some attrition issues here.
 
Watching Maryland-UConn women. How long has NCAA WBB played quarters instead of halves?
 
Floyd was a promising player. We need to keep top 100 recruits from transferring to Fordham if we are going to develop this program. The injury situation is brutal otherwise. Never seen a program so snakebit.

This is the first year for it and similar to the NBA, when they reach 5 fouls in a quarter the other team shoots 2 foul shots so there is no 1 & 1. They feel like that has brought down the number of fouls already in the game. Men's basketball will follow suit soon.
 
Hoover will get some time given the strength of that incoming class but there needs to be progress and soon. The team has dropped in the ACC standings each year she's been here.

Basically the women's basketball coach is a self absorbed incompetent coach.
 
Big win tonight over UNC 75-63.

UNC isn't ranked and is having a down year by their standards, but they are always well coached and athletic.

Always nice to beat the tar holes in any sport.
