NFL Offseason Thread: NFL Draft - Rams pick Goff #1

Miss.gif

Anyone say anything good good about "Hack"? All my Jet buds are ready to jump off a ledge.

Dr. James Andrews weighed in on Myles Jack and says he won't need microfracture surgery.

Andrews clinic covers Alabama football. There is plenty of incentive for him to maintain loyalty to the program.

Lyle Cain, Andrews protege, is the primary physician for Alabama football. Andrews himself attends Auburn games and mostly covers that program.

Andrews himself mainly does elbows and shoulders these days. Knees aren't really his thing.

Yeah I had ACL surgery from his old partner Lemak when they were still partners in Birmingham. He said Andrews never does knees. And that was 10 years ago.

I feel like during the college football season the QBs that were being talked about for the first round were Connor Cook, Paxton Lynch, and Christian Hackenberg.

Maybe that was closer to the beginning of the season, but I really don't recall Goff and Wentz being the "no question" top QBs until AFTER the season ended.

ETA: Went back and looked, here's a Kiper/McShay Q/A from Dec 2015:

"1. Who are the quarterbacks we'll be talking about on the first night of the draft?

Kiper: Two for certain, three possible, and a fourth for good measure.

Paxton Lynch of Memphis and Jared Goff of Cal are the two possible top-10 picks right now. Lynch has the great range of tools, and Goff has a special arm, moves well, and has a ton of experience. The third name to add to the Round 1 mix is Connor Cook of Michigan State, who at his best looks like a first-round lock, but can struggle with ball placement on his throws. The name to watch as a possible late-first pick. perhaps by some team trading back into the first round, is Carson Wentz of North Dakota State. Forget the school name. If Wentz, a 6-foot-5, 235-pounder, were playing for Bama or Florida State you'd think, "Man, that team has a really good QB." He can move really well."

And here is Kiper's early Top 25 for 2016 that he posted just after the 2015 NFL Draft. It shows that at least Hackenberg has the talent and potential, just maybe not the best luck.

1. *Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State Buckeyes
2. *Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss Rebels
3. *Jalen Ramsey, S, Florida State Seminoles
4. *Robert Nkemdiche, DT, Ole Miss Rebels
5. *Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida Gators
6. *A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama Crimson Tide
7. *Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss Rebels
8. *Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State Cowboys
9. *Jared Goff, QB, California Golden Bears
10. *Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame Fighting Irish

11. *Christian Hackenberg, QB, Penn State Nittany Lions
After a freshman season that showed tons of promise and also matched the considerable hype, Hackenberg struggled mightily as a true sophomore behind a bad offensive line -- and through what could not have been an easy coaching transition, as outgoing coach Bill O'Brien has a superb reputation among quarterbacks. There is no question 2015 will be a scrutinized season for a kid with obvious NFL tools.

12. *Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State Spartans
13. *Kendall Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech Hokies
14. Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State Buckeyes
15. Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State Spartans
16. *Darron Lee, OLB, Ohio State Buckeyes
17. D'haquille "Duke" Williams, WR, Auburn Tigers
18. *Jaylon Smith, OLB, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
19. *Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State Buckeyes
20. *Tony Conner, S, Ole Miss Rebels
21. *Myles Jack, OLB, UCLA Bruins
22. Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor Bears
23. DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon Ducks
24. *Su'a Cravens, S, USC Trojans
25. *Cardale Jones, Ohio State Buckeyes

Where is Cardale Jones projected?

Haha...gotta love the Patriots taking a third string QB in the 3rd Round.

And it was Jacoby Brissett, followed soon after by Cody Kessler.

How the hell are these teams passing over Connor Cook?

Meh. State didn't think Wilson was as good as Glennon.

Why did the Raiders trade up to get Connor Cook?

cowboys were probably going to take him

I don't know why the Cowboys took a second RB in round 6 and a basketball player (who projects at TE)

They now have 5 ribs and 4 TEs on roster

And their D sucks

First draft without a Wake player since 2011.

Figures since we didn't have any real talent except a great punter who got his leg kicked off for 4 years. I think Mate will make somebody a great NFL punter with his deadeye ability and Chubb can makes a good special teamer. But in the future, we are looking much better--Serigne for instance.
