Wake Baseball

Unfortunately looking a lot like last year. To this point the highly touted offense has really disappointed. Sheets has been a pleasant surprise, as has Pryor. Mondou has been scuffling all year, couple that with Craig's injury, and little to no production from Joey Rod and Ben B, you get a .500 baseball team.

Lost first game 4-0, Dunshee went the distance for Wake. Lost the second game 6-4. Had a 3-1 lead that slowly disappeared.

Ye who enter, should abandon all hope

Is and will be the motto of Wake athletics until Wellman resigns, is fired or dies

Enjoy the heartbreak suckers

It was on the road to the defending national champs and we were without our best player. Still a lot of the season left.

NCAA tourney bid or not. Let's bet on it.

You pick the odds Ron

Will Craig is back today and got a single in his first at bat.

Monumental collapse happening at UVa. Farish has to lead the ACC in wild pitches. Got that feeling when the Deacs left them loaded without scoring in the top of the inning. If Sellers did not pitch yesterday there is no reason he couldn't pitch 2 innings for the save. They will have the extra day of rest not playing on Sunday. Nobody, except Craig, can make a winning play on this team. Hope they come back but not looking good.

Meh. No such thing as monumental collapses in wake athletics. There are just the norm.

Pulled it out 9-8. Winning run advanced on a wild pitch and scored on an error. Justice?

Wake was up 8-1, UVA came back to tie it at 8, and then wake scored in t9 to win 9-8.

Also sounded like the last few innings were played in heavy rain.

Obviously glad that they pulled it out but don't understand why Sellers did not start the 8th. He pitched 5 outs anyway and it about cost them a game. Not sure they will take a chance with Craig pitching so the 7th and 8th innings are going to be difficult. Regardless, glad they pulled it out. Sweeps are the death nail of conference play.

We aren't playing well enough right now to make the NCAA tournament. 1 out of 3 isn't going to do it. But at least we are staying alive and giving us a chance at some point.

On the road against the defending national champion without Craig on the two losses?

The Deacs play at home tonight at 6 PM against UNCC.
