Wake Baseball

Foul by Okey was just to the left of home plate, within the brick wall and foul net area. Breazeale should have been able to pick the ball up IMO since it was a high pop up. Bartholomew got his glove on it sliding down, but he was running so hard from the mound his momentum ran him into the wall, which resulted in him dropping the ball. Coming down, the ball couldn't have been more than a foot inside the playing field net. He had to be checked to see if he could continue pitching. We probably should have pulled him since the next pitch was a served up HR GS....
Breazeale told me in the interview after the game that he had a hard time picking it up, as he had to try to see "through" the right handed batter. But yeah, I think he'd also admit he should have gotten to it himself.

Wheels coming off for the Deacs. Back to back errors let the pack tie it after being up 5-0.

Spoke with a friend close to the team that said Mondou is fighting it hard. He is very worried about his draft status because his season has been so bad. This inning won't help his head at all. In fairness, Dunshee dropped an easy pop up bunt. Wake may very well come back but the really good teams don't do that. Sure these things "happen" but we are not playing 162 games. You only get so many chances in conference play and you can't piss it away.

Bless your heart.

Maybe Mondou will have to stay for his senior year. Because his draft status will be pretty miserable compared to what it would have been last year if he were draft eligible with the way his season has gone.

LOL at Walter talking about how this team could make the super regionals at the beginning of the season.

They'll finish about the same as last season. Out of the ACCT.

Possibly the worst back-to-back innings of D I've ever witnessed by a Wake team... and maybe in all of college baseball that I've seen, period. Teammates running into each other on routine fly ball, Mondou's errant flip to 2nd, Dunshee over-sliding on a pop up bunt and looking away to 1st only to have ball hit the heal of his glove instead of the pocket, and Gavin playing with a ground ball like it was greased. It was surreal. Thought I was watching a little league game. Went from being ahead to losing badly in one inning. This game may spell Walter's doom.

For the tens of people who still care, Deacs lose in 10 3-2. Led 2-0 into the 8th couldn't hold it. Craig intentionally walked 4 times. Why anybody would pitch to him is a mystery. There is no protection in the lineup and nobody that can hit behind him. Just another in the long list of conference games pissed away by Wake. There is not a single player other than Craig with the balls to step up and make a winning play in crunch time.

Stinks to have a player as good as Will Craig and waste his time at Wake by never making the postseason.

It is unbelievable how bad we are in football, basketball and baseball. We are not even the laughing-stock of the ACC. People actually feel sorry for us.

Not sure we have someone as elite at his particular sport as Will Craig, in other sports at wake.

Noah Rubin was pretty darn good in tennis last year, and there may be someone equally as good as soccer, but Craig is the real deal for sure.

Other than general ineptitude, anybody have an idea as to why Sellers came in to pitch the 7th and Craig the 8th and 9th?

Jack Harrison was the ACC player of the year and #1 pick in the MLS draft.
