Fire Ron Wellman

Time to organize a #Ronout protest?? The first one worked so well...

of all the game REDACTED's team had to play well...

that SON OF A BITCH

Straw Man. No one said Hatch's number one priority should be athletics. His number one priority should be seeing that Wake Forest is the best it can be in whatever experiences it offers ... science labs, music programs, counseling, athletics. His job is to see that those hired to run those programs are (a) competent and (b) have the resources to be successful. The way Hatch has screwed over athletics (and athletes) under the guise of having better academics is proof that he doesn't care about having successful athletics ... specifically in not providing academic programs relevant to the needs and aspirations of many scholarship athletes. And the way Hatch allowed Ron Wellman to disembowel Wake's most prominent program and thumb his nose repeatedly in the faces of supporters is further proof of Hatch's incompetence. And the Board of Trustees watches the ship sail with a faulty rudder.

Wake graduates still have the upper hand in finding employment. Two candidates interview for a job with a business degree, one from Wake, one from Clemson...who do you choose? In addition, it pays dividends in upward mobility I believe.
However, academics and athletics are two entirely different things. Last night's invitation to the "Windsor Club" and Wake's drive to sign up new Deacon Club members was a joke. The advertisement of free snacks, etc. turned out to be some stale popcorn and pretzels. What a joke! Fact: donors are leaving left and right. Look at the t-shirts they are throwing out (10 year old tie dyed). The only sponsors they still have are Flow and Texas Pete. Where are the sponsors from last year like Mellow Mushroom and others? GONE!

Wake treats its athletes like 2nd class citizens and drools over the blue haired donors who have no clue about athletic success. Wake is NOT an institution interested in success athletically. It reminds me of congress. Let's take care of ourselves and to the people be damned. Wake Athletics is broke. Ron Wellman has failed. You can build all the facilities you want to with one or two big-time donors by promising to put their name on it. But if the school can't even afford a decent per diem for them to eat when traveling, or they opt for cheaper accommodations for athletes while putting deacon club members up in the nicer hotel, or they allow deacon club members to travel on flights, while relegating others to buses...what kind of shit show are you running?
Manning is not the best in-game coach in the world but his recruiting has been admirable based on what he is working with. He inherited a disaster. Free Throw shooting is abhorrent. Most of us on this site could out shoot our bkb team. It may take a decade to get over the disaster of the last bkb hire. Sadly, are those of us that are life-long fans going to still be here?
Edited to add: Our band completely sucks too!

Not to pick nits, but this just isn't true in the real world. MAYBE it helps with the first job, but after you have a few years of experience on your resume, no one - for the most part - cares where you went to school.

Truth, the degree gets you in the door for your first job but unless your degree reads Duke, Stanford, Emory, or an Ivy it really doesn't matter after that.

It has been THIS since Hatch arrived. His arrival coincides with the downward spiral of Wake athletics. You can believe this is a coincidence if you like but before you do that I would encourage you to talk to ND athletic supporters. Hatch has NEVER been a friend of athletics.

Didn't Hatch preside over ND's down period in athletics as well?
