Men's Golf

Looks like we just couldn't quite get through the front 9 without some extra fun. Still better than yesterday though.

They are working on one of the worst second rounds in the field. Will need to pick it up a lot on the back nine.

Yes, and it's really not close.

What about USC (the real one)? Academics aren't quite on par with Stanford, but they are usually around us (20 to 30) in the US News rankings, and their sports are normally top-notch.

strange some regions have 14 teams and others 13.

Stanford is the best academic institution on the west coast. Lots of good athletes out there in almost all sports that would have to get all the way to Chicago before running into a school with similar academics/athletics reputation. Credit to them that they've taken advantage of it.

McBride birdies 9 to go out in 35. He's -6 for the tournament and in a tie for the individual lead. Wake in 4th at +1, two shots clear of sixth but seven shots behind third. Back side has played easier so the Deacs need to go pour in some birdies coming in.

Without a few birdies coming home, we will be on the outside looking in going into day 3.

Could be time for our favorite Wake golf pastime ... talking about how good next year's team should be ...

Zalatoris doubles 16 today after eagling it yesterday.

Wow - Zalatoris' game is just in shambles. I still question if he is really healthy. I also question if he should be playing in the Nelson; his game just doesn't look like it is any shape for such a stage.
