The first round of the ACC Women's Championship started today and runs through Sunday.

WF came into the tourney ranked 45th which puts the team as the 8 seed. As the first round is ending, WF is in 2nd, and WF's Jennifer Kupcho is alone in first among all players in the event with an impressive 66.

Go Lady Deacs!

Our women at Sedgefield is basically the opposite of the men's team at Old North State. They play well there.

Have we had an individual ACC women's champ since the LEGENDARY Marta Prieto won it in '98?

That's cool and all, I guess. Were they all sneaking cigs in between holes though?

Wake had the lowest round of the day. 6 shots behind Va and 11 clear of 3rd place Duke.

On paper, this looked like a pretty good team that didn't have a good year. Maybe they are rounding into form at the right time.

Our top four are a junior, soph and 2 freshmen. Our two recruits have been ranked among the top 15 juniors in the world Rolex rankings.

Deacs finish second as a team, 11 shots behind UVA and 17 ahead of third place Duke. Kupcho and Sims tied for second individually at -7, two shots behind the winner (also from UVA). A very respectable finish overall.

Absolutely!
Congrats on a very solid tournament.
The next few years look very promising

Agreed. I think Duke is ranked #3 in the country, so beating them by 17 strokes is impressive.

The men's team will kill it at Old North State. Past history is never an influence on current history.

10 seed out west. Top 6 advance. We seem to be playing better recently. Lets hope we can go low.
