Mike Tirico Leaving ESPN for NBC

Pretty likely that ESPN wasn't going to continue to pay him $3 million a year, so this is a good move for him, even if it's for about the same money. However, the NFL slot on ESPN is a pretty big deal.

espn still finds ways to hire more ex meathead players analysts though

Who's going to take over MNF and deal with Jon Gruden once a week for four months?

This is going to happen with a lot of ESPN big names. Curious to see how he fits in NBC's NFL broadcasts.

Sean McDonough early favorite to replace Tirico on MNF.

Tirico did so much at ESPN. MNF, high profile NBA games, golf and tennis majors. At NBC he'll start with Thurday Night Football until Al Michaels retires at SNF and.... Olympics?

CBS has TNF.

Grooming him to replace Costas, I imagine.

tirico doesnt need grooming to replace costas

NBC just nabbed the British Open too, imagine he'll be a focal point of their U.S. Open and British coverage. And maybe some hockey?

But yeah, still a reduction in volume and profile of the events he'll be covering

So more money for less work. Not bad.

Lots of golf and football coverage, it would seem. Golf Network is aligned with NBC, so that could be a focal point.

NBC doesn't have the US Open anymore. They have the British and the Ryder Cup and I suspect Tirico will find a spot alongside Johnny Miller in a hurry.
