Big surprise, but Sturridge was supposed to start but has a calf problem, not even on the bench today.

Nah, Sturridge just hiding and using an "injury" as a crutch. Scared of being replaced by the big Rash on merit.

England has some ugly fucking shirts for this tournament.

Marcus Rashford

Goal on Man United debut
Goal on Premier League debut
Goal on England debut

Can't stop. Won't stop.

No Reus for Germany due to injury , he's now missed both the World Cup and the Euros - that's some shitty luck. Germany now has basically 0 forwards (Mario Gololomez doesn't count), guess they are going to go with the 0-6-4 formation!

So.. England has no cover for their lone CDM, and that CDM is already the cover for their center backs? I'm sure that's going to end well.

To be fair, Dier is the 4th choice center back, but I agree with you, I would have taken Drinkwater and one less striker. Here's the final roster:

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley)

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Ross Barkley (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal)

Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United, capt), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City

Italy names a team that is basically Juve's defense and a bunch of "who's that guy?". The Verratti and Marchisio injuries just gutted them.

I think Hodgson likes Wilshere in that role for some reason. He can carry the ball and beat a man, I guess -- take a couple of players out with the dribble -- but he won't be covering anything defensively.

You could probably get even money on at least one of Sturridge or Wilshere getting injured in the next week to the point of getting dropped, so things might accidentally work themselves out.

Götze's gonna end up having a huge tournament, Madrid will buy him, then he'll disappear on their bench.

Plus he's well rested.

Jurgen Klopp apparently made the observation that England has the best set of strikers of any team in the Euros. When you think about it, it's kind of amazing how unimpressive the strikers are generally for traditional powers like Germany, Spain, and Italy.
