HB2 Strikes Again

Sorry, for as long as there has been written history, there have been gay and transgender people. You can't find a time without them. It's not about "sexual desire" any more than having blue eyes is about a choice (other than contact lenses).

the only way these beliefs are not totally terrible (they are) is if you can define this as an argument about choice and behavior. it allows people to delude themselves into thinking their treatment of others is ok.

this is the true failing of modern day conservative and/or evangelical christianity. their teachings have allowed the terrible treatment of a group of people that are no different from their neighbors. last i checked jesus was not very happy with the conservatives of his day.

Yep.

Many Christian denominations accept gay people as members of their congregations.

Is the biological male who identifies himself as female in fact female in the same sense that a black man is black?

If so, how can the homeless man who identifies himself as a multi-millionaire be denied membership in the country club his great grandfather helped to establish?

Why does objective reality matter in race and social status but not in sexuality?

sometimes genes get messed up while a fetus is in the womb, and infants don't pop out exactly like yours did you ignorant redneck

The answer to this question is obviously "no"...and that's where liberals have a problem when they try to lump the two things together and treat them as if they were the same.

Yeah this is where I fall. There are a million birth abnormalities but somehow gender/sex are perfectly binary?

Just wondering, do you believe people imagine that they are gay, or that they are objectively gay?

"some pervert wrapping a skirt around his wiener and going in the ladies room" is one of my new favorite sayings.

That's fine, but then put transgenderism under the ADA and all problems are instantly solved, including bathroom accommodation. The problem is the view of its proponents that yes it is a legit genetic abnormality that should be validated for legal purposes, but at the same time not wanting to label it as a genetic abnormality for social purposes. Trying to have it both ways is what causes the legal issues.

Why do you have to name an "abnormality"? Why can't it just be something that happens to some people?

Yeah, it's just a difference. Think of all the differences between people, this is just another one. This can't be that hard to understand.

Because its proponents presumably want to be able to legitimize it scientifically/biologically, to combat mebane's argument that it is just made up fantasy. Again, you can't have it both ways. It is either a genetic defect/abnormality or it isn't legitimate.

If all those he she's would just play high school football they would be shaped into the productive wholesome men they were meant to be.

No. It's not a "genetic defect/abnormality." As I wrote earlier, it's just a difference and there are thousands of these in humans - eye color, hair color, hair texture, height, finger length, nail shape, personality etc. These differences are dictated by genetics, in utero exposures (hormones, temperature, etc.), and childhood and adult exposures. You seem to be struggling with a limited knowledge of genetics and biology in this discussion.

Why does it have to be a "defect/abnormality"? Less that 2% of the world's population have green eyes, is that a "defect/abnormality"?
