College Football Final Four

Hopefully the Badgers get to play someone like Florida State (a 3 loss ACC team) in a bowl game. We'll then see how stupid that argument is. There is a difference between being good and having a real chance to win the national title.

None of the other teams have a chance on paper to beat Bama. Let's just have a tournament for second place.

Clemson and Ohio State both can beat Alabama. And both have the depth and athleticism to then turn around and win another really hard game against their counterpart. Not that they will but they can. Wisconsin? Sure they can beat Bama. But they do not have the horse power to win back to back games against the likes of Bama, Clemson and Ohio State. No. It's hard to win for a reason.

Wisconsin is a good, solid team. The fact they are even in the conversation of having a chance to play for the national title, however, is comical. They simply lack the overall athleticism to win two games against very strong competition. As soon as they play a team that can match them physically and offers more athleticism (and that is exactly what a real Top 5 team and many teams outside the Top 5 who don't play in the Big Ten can offer) they won't be able to score. Can they win a game against a team like Clemson. Sure. But that differential in athleticism (and depth) makes winning a big challenge and the risk of a lopsided game somewhat high against them. And, to be clear, they'll face two teams like that if they make the playoff (and neither one will be named Penn State). We all know it is true.

They lack athleticism to win games against strong competition, and they lack physicality to score against top 5 teams.

But they can win a game against a team like Clemson, and they can beat Bama. Huh? Sounds like a team that should be in the argument for a spot in the playoff.

Good God. They are not winning two games in the Final Four. They might spring an upset. Very unlikely. But possible. But they are not winning back to back games against that type of competition.

The knock on Wisconsin makes no sense. They have already played supposedly more athletic teams in LSU, Oh St, and Mich. They beat LSU, controlled the game against Oh St until the end and went to OT with them, and lost at Mich on one long pass play.

So they couldn't score and lost two games. And they beat LSU by two points in a game where they scored 16 points. Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State are not LSU on offense.

Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State. They ain't winning two in a row against those teams.

No one other than Bama is winning two games. They scored 23 against Oh St. They scored more against LSU than Bama did. You are not making any good points.

Bama is beatable. Lots of teams can beat them. Perhaps it isn't likely. But they can be beat. That isn't the question. The question is what four teams are actually capable of winning two tough games back to back. Bama is certainly chief among those teams But they are not the only team with a legitimate chance of winning two really hard games in a row. Wisconsin is not one of those teams.

And I continue to find this desire to play transitive properties of sports laughable. Wisconsin also played Alabama last year. They scored zero points and rushed for 42 yards in a game that was over by halftime. Talk about making shitty points.

The fact is they played a mediocre schedule this year, lost to the two best teams they played and would be a huge underdog against Bama or Clemson if they somehow made the playoff. They don't belong.

We shall agree to disagree for now, my friend. If the Badgers lose tonight, then I will agree with you. If they win and Clemson wins, moot point anyway.

Man I remember that tosu team a few years ago that didn't belong in the top 4. They got embarrassed by winning the national championship.

Last night probably cost Colorado the rose bowl since they were at 8 and USC at 11. Don't really like seeing the CCG end up hurting a team. Except florida. Have no problem with a big loss to Bama costing them the Sugar Bowl.

Oh, you mean the team that beat Wisconsin 73-0 in the Big Ten title game? Yeah, sure.

It was 59-0. You might have been thinking of a couple years earlier when the Badger beat Nebraska in the B10 championship 70-31, which is equally as irrelevant the conversation about the teams this year.

It is relevant to how good Ohio State was that season given someone else saying they weren't all that.

Back to back blocks in Bama-Florida game. Bama blocked a punt and returned it for a TD. UF blocked the extra point and returned it for 2 points. Bama is up 16-9 and has yet to make a first down.

First down? Hell, they had -7 yds total offense in the 1st quarter. So....their defense is whipping the Gator's offense. Gonna get ugly when the Tide's offense gets going...
