Wake Baseball 2017-Regional Champs! On to Supers!

Breazeale out of the game after a foul tip off him in the second. Logan Jackson in. Not a great start.

0-0 bottom of the second. Wake is the home team.
 
4-0 through 4, Wake leads. Johnstone seemingly cruising. Fairchild hit a three run shot in the third.
 
Houston game still slated to be played. Johnstone 80 pitches through 8, one hit allowed. Now 5-0 with Wake still batting in 8th.

Complete game one hitter for Johnstone as Wake wins 5-0, he hit three guys, walked two and struck out six.

Playing Houston tonight in a battle of preseason All-American starting pitchers. As mentioned above, both teams received votes by some media outlets to be ranked in the preseason but Houston is slated to be slightly better. Would be great to take at least one of two from the Cougars this weekend.

It's an all-access pack that some may have, if not you can get a monthly pass for $9.99 and watch at least tonight and Sunday's game and perhaps a few others in the next few days if Wake has any more on the college all-access in the next month (some games are on ESPN3 that we host through the ACC agreement with ESPN)
 
One game does not a season make but Aiello is picking up right where he left off last season with striking out. With the loss of production of Craig and Mondou Wake can't afford an bunch of unproductive outs. Great game for Johnstone and Fairchild with the 2 out bomb. A win tonight would be fantastic. Go Deacs!!
 
Marenpot has struck out four times through a game and an at bat today.

Houston starter has an arm. This could be a fun one.

Surprised at Dunshee's line but it's the first game of the year.

Unproductive outs? Deacs had 25 k's yesterday versus 11 total hits and 2 extra base hits.
 
I was not making a yesterday specific comment but a season long one. Troubling numbers from yesterday nonetheless.
 
Dunshee looked solid for four and two thirds then couldn't get out of the fifth and the contact continued into the sixth. Houston is pretty good. Romero was an ace and their bats were patient. Bounce back today against Nicholls and get another crack at Houston tomorrow.
 
Down 10-4 to Nicholls State. Looks like our pitching is still pretty thin.
 
Pitiful effort to this point. 10-4 NSU. Walks, poor defense, and what amounts to having 2 capable hitters in your entire lineup adds up to this kind of loss. Fairchild is going to get nothing to hit this year. Not sure what Loepprich did last year not to be a starter this year. Feel like McCarrren is more valuable out of the pen.
 
Didn't Walter try to get a different job in the offseason?
