Wake Baseball 2017-Regional Champs! On to Supers!

Let's hope we don't have a baseball equivalent of our basketball team and that we can actually keep the other teams from scoring a ton too.

This is going to mostly rest on the arms of the pitchers. If they do well, then the defense will be respectable. If the pitching isn't there, Wake could be in a lot of games with scores that look like slow pitch softball game scores.

really nice outing from mcsweeney. and supple didnt walk anyone!

really need one of these guys to step up, this has gotta be our year as we will prob lose a ton this offseason.

4-0 Wake in the 3rd. Signs that the pitching is rounding into form. This team could be better than last year's team.

Wake gets the sweep with a 5-0 gem of a 7 innings from Sellers and the bullpen shuts them down in the 8th and 9th.

3 hitter. 3 runs allowed in 29 innings so far this weekend.

Wake up 5-3 after 6 against Radford. Some sloppy defense giving up 3 unearned runs, but the pitching has been real solid this weekend.

Broken it open with 6 in the 6th. Up 11-3 now.

Record should be 9-4 and we enter the meat of the schedule.

bruce steel swinging a big bat this year outta nowhere. would be huge if he can keep it up. on the other hand, maronpot continues getting chances without producing. not sure if we have anyone else though.

Deacs finish the weekend sweep 18-7 to go to 9-4. Next week includes a weekday trip to the defending national champions and then ACC season gets started with State coming to town.

Going into the season, State was ranked and considered to be among the ACC's best, but they just lost today to Western Carolina drop to 6-6 on the season. In addition to WCU, State has to lost Austin Peay, Rhode Island, Maryland, Charlotte and Hawaii. BTW, UVA is 11-1 and L'ville is 11-0 already this season.

Most ACC teams have played nobody. WF played Houston who took 2 out of 3 against Cal St. Fullerton, and even Nichols State is 7-5.

Also, there have been some bad losses: Binghamton just swept 4 games at VT this past weekend; Miami is 4-6 and just lost 2 out of 3 to Dartmouth.

In today's rankings (which came out before this loss) they were still #20 or 21 somehow.
