2017 NBA Draft thread - JC drafted 19th to Atlanta, OUR... Hawks?

fuck that would be the worst possible hornets pick and he does check off a lot of their past draft transgressions traits.

TJ Leaf is going to love Charlotte

Come to think of it, he reminds me of Adam Morrison.

tj leaf would be a better draft pick than justin jackson imo. justin jackson fits the old (22 already which means he's ready to contribute early!) and coming from a good team (winning culture!) profile which has bit the hornets in the ass over and over.

I'm pretty sure we've be told Collins will be too old to be drafted at 21. No way Jackson will be drafted at 22.

Jackson and Danny Green have nothing in common other than the schools they played for. Jackson is offensive minded but inefficient. Danny Green average at best 13 ppg in college but shot 42% from 3 his last season. Jackson is more like Adam Morrison without the scoring or efficiency. Morrison averaged 28 ppg as a junior, shooting ~50%.
Jackson is a decent end of 1st round pick as a scorer off the bench.

Jackson is straight garbage. His absolute ceiling is Danny Green without the defense maybe a poor man's Harrison Barnes. UNC has had better wings not be NBA stars.

That's why I called Green an "absolute ceiling" and one of several UNC wings better than Jackson.

Justin Jackson does have a couple of moves and shots that will translate to the NBA, but I agree he is not a lottery pick.

Sure. He will stick on rosters as a bench volume shooter but he's not worthy of anything but a low first from a team looking for shooting depth.

I could see his stock dropping if he tests poorly at the combine.

In general, I'm still not quite sure what Justin Jackson does at an NBA level as a shooting guard.

For all of the talk of Jackson as a perimeter shooter, he ended the year at 36.8% 3FG, which was his best mark in his three years at Carolina (33.9% 3FG overall)

According to monthly splits, Jackson was a very good shooter in December (39.1% 3FG) and January (41.3% 3FG), but dropped off in November (37.5% 3FG) and February (37.7% 3FG). Even worse, he faded down the stretch, regressing to his career mean over his last 10 games (28.9%).

Those numbers don't really translate to being a shooting specialist over 82 games at a much higher level.

#eyetest tells me Jackson took a lot tougher quality shots at UNC than he'll take as a Danny Green type spot up guy. And he does have a nice midrange game when guys close out hard (unlike DG).

What do y'all think about Jayson Tatum as an NBA prospect?

He will be good but not perennial all-star good.

He's the most ready of the Top 6-8 players. Barring a Duke regression, he should be a star for many years to come. K did not use him well at all.

His numbers as a freshman in the ACC compare well to the soph numbers of Paul George in the WAC. Trouble finding another comp.

Because of K's offense , Tatum's numbers are lower than they should be.
