When wins are vacated the losing opponent is not credited with an extra win all of a sudden. It stays in the records as a loss.

To nit-pick, I don't know that Thompson never said such a thing, but the most famous variation of that sentiment came from Jerry Tarkanian with "The NCAA was so mad at Kentucky they gave Cleveland State two more years of probation."
