2013 FB RECRUITING MEGATHREAD: Stevenson! 1RB,1DL,1K,2WR,5LB,1QB,5OL,3DB,2TE

Anybody know anything about this guy? Seems like we are becoming Linebacker U. May be a DE since scout has listed as that.

Joey Knight ‏@JoeyHomeTeam
OLB Justin Madison of @RobinsonKnights offered by #WakeForest. Kid has 3.0-plus GPA, is president of Knights student council @King_Madison16

If you are from Tampa, would you rather play at Buffalo, Iowa State or Wake? The answer should be that same if you are from anywhere, but definitely Tampa.

The DC at Iowa State Wally Burnham was DC for nearly a decade at USF when we had some really great defenses. He continues to recruit the hell out of Tampa

Madison is supposed to visit Iowa State this weekend and Wake next weekend.
He's going to freeze his noogies off in Iowa tonight

Scout shows he just picked up a Miami offer

I don't get the same assessment of Solo...he looks very athletic and comes off the ball well.

He is playing against some pretty big kids in that district.

6'3 to 6'4 and 250 - 255 pounds / 4.8 40 / 445 Bench Press and a 535 Squat.

Would love to have him! http://247sports.com/Player/Solo-Ceesay-19173

I'm liking the staff's direction in recruiting. They have gone back to the Mack Brown approach of "taking the best athlete available".

Wendell Dunn, Lance Virgile, Justin Thomas-Jackson, Marquel Lee, Ali Lamot ...

Each of these kids is fast and in the 6'3 to 6'4 range (Wendell and Ali may be over 6'4) and each is 215 to 225 (again, Lamot and Dunn appear to have blown up and Lamot looks about 6'4 and 240 today)

I would take 3-4 more just like them...all day.

Some good fights shaping up at the finish...

It looks like the California athlete, Leon Jacobs (6'4-225 / ex hoop star) is down to Wisconsin and Wake Forest...He is in Madison this weekend. Hopefully it is terrifically cold out there... :)

Leon and Kevis Jones developed a great rapport on his visit last weekend...C'mon Kevis!

** The two DT's, Nelson and Marks are visiting Arkansas this weekend...we are out of contention with Nelson, but if Bielema pulls Nelson then we may be in the drivers seat for Marks.

I prefer Marks. He would be a steal... http://247sports.com/Player/KeTyrus-Marks-25276 Check out his reel...big, quick guy. Good looking kid.

I see it this way. Ejiofor told ESPN that he thinks he's an LB. Madison just got an offer from the U. With his strength, I can see Ceesay in the Lewinson mold. I think that we're too little, too late for Marks. He might jump on the Hogs bandwagon this weekend. My wish list is 1) Calvin, He'd be our best kick returner since Willie Idelette, and Camp won't get clobbered on a return. CC had 5 returns of 50+ this year. 2) Ceesay, we can play him at DE or develope him into a DT. We don't have any 300 lbs NT knocking at our door, we have to make them. 3)Ejiofor, If he wants to play for us, it will be with his hand in the dirt. Who really knows what Grayson will do? We'll probably have another NSD surprise again.

Calvin is definitely being recruited by us at CB. With Latter's commitment I don't know if that affects him at all, but he says he is torn between us and TCU and I think he is a slight WF lean.

Excellent analysis, imo.

One thing is certain...just as I was sold on Lewinson and Harris, I am equally impressed with James Looney. Again, an injury late helps keep the bad-guys at bay (even though WF had the inside connect). I invite you to take a look at James from about 2 years ago to today...the fresh faced baby has become a "Shooter McGavin 'Oohhhhhhhmmyyyyygodd!!'"

If somebody told me he was 6'5 and 285 today, I'd not flinch... and without the hair...

James is as Big as "Big-Baby" and both of those boys are going to hover around 300 depending on which position they eventually fill. Jim Harbaugh said "Joe Looney was the most impressive interview" (of all the Niners 2012 invitees). I hope James has some of the same mind-set.

I'd have to say a re-eval. is needed for Solo. He is a helluva prospect and he is playing against much superior competition than what Tylor Harris faced...he is impressive to me / I like the direction in recruiting and won't bitch about a guy we will need to mold -- but a 4.8 40, 30" vertical, 445 pound bench and 535 squat and a kid with just 2 years under his belt... I'll take him!

Whether 'we' like it or not, Wake has adopted Aaron Curry's approach to recruiting which is to "recruit Aaron Curry's". Wake's staff has switched from "program mode" to "best athlete available"... So, it has become a game of "moving targets" as opposed to "sitting ducks". I personally prefer it...most of the great players from the Mack Brown era were "athletes" and virtual 2 stars who were "new to the game" but had tremendous upside.

It stands to reason that not all of these guys will "hit"...but I am dam excited over the film and athletic ability of the guys at LB and OLB...even the white kid named after a truck! :) JK.

We have to remember that we already have some serious ath's to plug in from last year.... Steve Donatell, Teddy Matthews and Kevis Jones...and in the secondary we bring in two 'natural footballers' in Janvion and Dom Gibson.

Knoxville paper this morning:
(Head Coach Butch) "Jones finished his road trip in Gaffney SC to see DL Jaylen Miller....... (Miller) said earlier this week that he has not decided whether he wants to take his scheduled visits to Maryland and Wake Forest and admiited he loved his latest trip to Knoxville....Based on where things stand now, it would be surprise if he does not end up at Tennessee."

More of what we already know.

Might be worth noting that our new WR coach, Stubblefield, comes from New Mexico and they have been in the mix for Cydney for some time...

As for Jalen, he has shown a natural aptitude for cover corner and has the hips and breaking on ball ability you can't coach. I saw where a service re-evaluated him (ESPN #39 CB) based on a Camp MVP performance...

His problem, rating wise, is that most of what we know about Latter the footballer is his ability as a QB. Marquel Lee's 'rating' suffered the same dual fate --- of course, high schools have long practiced the art of putting their best athlete at QB.

I respect him for at least digesting his visit...as he stands back from it I'm thinking he'll see that Tennesssee wants him on the interior and will push him in that direction from the moment he "signs". I think he gets his legitimate DE shot at WF. WF coaches are not as concerned with his 40 time as they are impressed with his physical nature and burst in a 10-15 yard range. Tenn will turn him into a 300 pounder where WF will keep him 265-275 and condition him towards remaining a DE.

Totally agree here. Guys with this sort of size, speed and strength are not common. I'll gladly take him and give him a few more years to learn the game.
