Reaction if Buzz gets an extension-----GO!

I would probably find a new team to follow. I didn't become a Wake fan until I went there, so the transition wouldn't be as tough for me as for some of you.

It really pains me to say that, but at some point you have to cut your losses.

Here's a scarier thought. Bzz will probably be back next year, and we'll probably be marginally better. All this year's frosh will have a year of experience and a year in the wgt room under their belts. If McKie comes back, I could see us winning around 7-8 ACC games in an 18-game sked. Of course, that will be at best middle of the pack in conference, and it won't be good enough for the NCAA tourney, but it will allow Wellman to make the "we continue to make steady improvement" argument once again and bring Bzz back for a fifth yr.

So unfortunately I just see mediocrity for years to come, until RW is fired/retired and a new AD wields a new broom.

That was supposed to be this year. I'm feeling pretty good about the prospects of a new hire come summertime.

If he has a five year contract, I would assume there will be no announcement concerning an extension. He's not in "a contract year" in any sense, since NEXT YEAR he will be recruiting incoming freshman for a season (14-15) in which he is already under contract. I have this daydream where Hatch is watching Wellman to see how he plays this out, and then cans him when he brings a proposed extension in for signature. By the way, which stage of grief is delusion? Asking for a friend.

My head hurts even thinking about it!

I have faith in the little voo doo doll that I have constructed to resemble RW and that it will yield its magical powers to force RW to make a move on March 7th!

I'm cautiously optomistic it won't happen. Wellman has really been laying low in the past 4-6 weeks. Not the usual routine of "progress", "couldn't be happier" and "oh heavens yes". His recent silence has me thinking he has at least changed to from Bz in to Bz wait and see.

buzz right now reminds me of that 15 year old working at McDonald's for the first time and everything is going wrong. Just can't handle the pressure. we're out of fries, orders are coming out wrong, the manager is taking the longest poo break ever, out of ice, etc

Do you know the proper rituals?

Except he's already worked at Burger King and Wendy's and the exact same thing happened there too. For some reason, the manager at McDonald's thought this time was somehow different.

I will up my annual contribution to my local ABC store with the money I saved not contributing to the DC.

I still go to fball games (8 tix) and make my DC contribution, but I have stopped going to bball games. If buzz comes back next year, I will not make my DC contribution. If they give him an extension, I am done completely, until both RW and buzz are gone.

I can't give out all the details, but I'll just say my reaction involves a shotgun, a shovel and some lime.

Guys, guys, guys. Wellman is firing Buzz after he loses in the ACC tournament. Absolutely 100% sure. You guys have lost all confidence in Wellman because he made a mistake hiring Buzz and he has done his best in public to back Buzz - like almost every other leader does for their coach at least in college. Here's the deal: Wellman became completely infatuated with Buzz when his Air Force team beat Wake several years ago. Absolutely infatuated, which came partly from the fact that Wellman already was friendly with Buzz. So he found his chance in his mind to fire Gaudio and hire Buzz. Wellman also way overestimated his own clout with the fans as he really did think that he had built up enough equity with Wake fans that they would believe in any choice Wellman made. He also just didn't realize the degree to which the Wake fans would be down on the Buzz choice. And a step further, Wellman really was convinced thaT Buzz would come across better to fans initially than he did. So it started out FAR worse than Wellman ever even considered. And certainly on top of that, Wellman felt liek Buzz would have success at Wake and not be a complete disaster. So Wellman just completely effed up on this hire. Everythign about it. But Wellman is smart. He really is. I have known him a long time and that is a very smart man for sure. He just screwed up - like most of us do from time to time. And he really has had no choice but to try and back him in public the best he can. But rest assured, without any question at all Buzz will be fired at the end of the season. Wellman is smart enough for sure and has a grasp on the business side of the decision to know that he doesn't have any choice at all but to fire him. None. Any discussion as to whether or not he will be fired is an absolute waste of time.
