They should be allowed to try at their own peril, however, considering the size and strenght of players in the NFL and men over women in general, it's almost guaranteed to never happen. I know this girls kicking and you might think it's a little different, but you still have to have the leg strength + accuracy....

And we already have defenses strangled by ridiculous personal foul calls on QBs and kickers who are big, grown-ass men. The month of pink is bad enough. Add women to rosters and you might as well just turn out the fucking lights and have a goddamned ballet instead.

If she's willing to accept the possible injuries of having 250lb men in peak physical health tackling her, sure.

those who say no also disagree w/ women in combat, I assume

As the only "no" so far, I will say no. Women in the military is long overdue. Same for gays, transgendered- whatever. If you are willing to fight for your country, you should be allowed. But the NFL is a sport- entertainment certainly not even in the hemisphere are a military engagement. I'm sick of seeing defensive players flagged for bullshit. Add women and you're only going to see more of it.

If they're willing to accept the risks and get no special treatment then sure. But if the NFL were to start changing the rules for women or making special exceptions to rules/etc, then I do not believe they should be in the NFL.

she should be allowed to try, but come on. the first bad snap where she gets tackled will end badly

people are bitching about a problem that isn't even a problem yet

It's already a problem with male players. Do you really think the kid glove/hands off treatment some offensive and special teams players get is going to go away if women are kicking field goals?? Seriously?

It worked for Kathy Ireland:

no, i honestly don't think it would be more of a problem.

sounds like men bitching that women can't be more than secretaries because their periods affect their decision making

Okay, well you're ignoring what most sportswriters have already written about and what fans have been increasingly seeing for years. As for what it sounds like to you, I can't say one way or the other. As I said earlier, I'm all for women in the military and doing whatever they want. But the "pussification" of football is already underway.

Besides, the NFL has already established that male players must be at least 3 years out of high school. That's a safety issue for guys who are already physically massive. I just don't see how anyone who's watched football even just the last 5-10 years could think this wouldn't result in more hands-off calls.

we're talking about two separate issues: women in the NFL and handling of special teams

im not going to address special teams issue b/c as you pointed out, that's an ongoing problem already; i don't see that women would exacerbate because...

women in the NFL would have to maintain the same standard of fitness as men (kickers in this case); i don't see why they would be treated unequally in that case. if players don't tackle them as hard, that's their problem.

If there ever was a woman who was +200lbs, could run a 4.5 second 40 yard dash and had the athleticism of an elite male athlete, then they should be allowed to play....but no such woman ever has or ever will exist.

I agree with the pussification talk, but it's moot because it just can't happen.
I don't even think there will be a woman with enough leg to match the legs of NFL kickers

are they explicitly banned as it is?
