Newest MTOW by Dan

The Class of 2013 is Overton and McClinton.

Just to be clear, wasn't it Skip who said "we're going to be good again" in response to landing the AT&T class?

Gaudio had us as a top 25 program in terms of recruiting swag when was ousted. Now we are not even a blip on the national recruiting screen. Dan is aware that we are screwed.

Not coincidentally, our drop in recruiting happened around the same time that this forum was formed! The BOARDS HURT RECRUITING!

Was it Tacy who had the Mike Scott, Rod Watson Scott May flame out? There were some great players that never got going at Wake for whatever reason. Socially difficult no doubt. Tacy was clearly a bit of a dinosaur at the end of his career.

Also Frank Johnson broke a bone in his foot.

We've had some great talent. It makes me want to pitch a fit with the current situation.

He recruited all of them but never coached them. I assume you mean Todd May, whose issues I wouldn't blame on Tacy.

Also if the above post isn't a :bkfbatsignal: I dont' know what is.

Can somebody explain what Dan was trying to do here?

------------
Staak and Gaudio also thought they had pulled in the kind of talent it takes to survive in the ACC, but both were proven wrong.

Staak bet his job on the 1987 class of Sam Ivy, Tony Black, Antonio Johnson, Greg Keith and Ralph Kitley, and by 1990 was no longer coaching college basketball.

And who can forget the excitement when Gaudio, following up the groundwork he laid as Prosser's assistant, brought in the ballyhooed 2009 class of Al-Farouq Aminu, Tony Woods and Ty Walker? And we all know how that turned out.
---------

Gaudio and Staak had completely different records. Animu was on two NCAAT teams. Aminu was a unanimous All-Freshman selection and was 2nd team All-ACC as a sophomore. Woods struggled here but started for a Sweet 16 team. The only Deacs since 2005 to make a Sweet 16 had to transfer to do so.

To me, that means that Gaudio and Staak at least brought in guys who were expected to make an impact, even if they didn't get it done (as to Dino, that was the official line). Bz hasn't even done that.

Devin is a Trelonnie, hopefully better.

I used to hit on Dan all the time. Loved his charisma. Sometimes dick is dick.

True, and if we are splitting hairs, I never thought Doggett was supposed to be a remarkable athlete or anything special.

He was the leading 3 point shooter in the state of NC. Never panned out for us. Supposedly came in here listed about 6'2" but when I did practices, I was as tall as he was and I am 5'11. I finally figured he led the state in 3's because he shot 25 per game. I think he ended up transferring to ETSU or somewhere like that.

Yeah, I remember him as a 3 point shooter too. Hope he is doing well.

Robert Doggett, an old teammate of Rogers' in AAU basketball in North Carolina and at Wake Forest, now lives in Atlanta. He became a frequent presence by Rogers' side.

It was Doggett who got to take him for an outing – along with a nurse – once Rogers got out of ICU. They went to a Target and a Best Buy in Atlanta, laughing about old times and teammates. Rogers – a strong and proud man, now and always – had to overcome a case of nerves to get in the van.

“It felt funny,” he says. “I almost didn't want to go. I hadn't been outside in months. Sometimes you worry about how people will look at you. … But it was pretty good.”
