I think I know how this board will come down on this question, but...

One of my closest guy friends is having an Engagement Party tomorrow. I screwed up the timing and thought this was next weekend. The question is, are gifts expected at an Engagement Party?

I really don't have the time or money to be buying gifts right now, but I don't want to be the only one showing up empty-handed.

Thoughts?

No it wasn't. They attacked her and two teammates. The man accused them of beating up his wife. Police decided he was mentally unstable.

My significant other wants a puppy soon and I don't know if we're necessarily in a good position for that. Mainly because while I work normal hours she does not, and I would just be in charge of the dog almost every single night. Maybe it's fine though since she would be home in the mornings and whatnot. Someone would always be around.

Lemme be honest, I don't know if I'm responsible enough for a puppy lol plus they're expensive.

No gifts for an engagement party (at least I've never brought one). If you want to overachieve you can bring a nice card.

Thanks for the responses. That's what I was thinking. No registry, no mention of anything other than time and place, so I figured it wouldn't be anything but a gathering of friends and family.
