The approvals have to be done by an admin. All the mods can do is edit threads/posts and ban people.

Admins have control over the major stuff, mostly out of fear us mods will screw shit up.

From RJ :To most of the board –Thanks for the memories

I’d like to a moment to thank the vast majority for all the memories. All I’ve ever wanted from this and other boards was to share some ideas, have some fun and discuss the Deacs and other subjects. Most of you understood this and were great.

However, there is a vocal, hate-filled, vile, personal attack minority whose only goal is to make every moment I am on the board worse than the last one. For some twisted reason, they take pride in acting out.

Sadly, their recent actions have tipped the scales. Enough is enough. It’s no longer fun and they will do everything they can to ensure matters get more oppressive.

I fully understand they will blame me for their actions. It’s what cowards do.

I also recognize they will attack this message to hide what they have done.

In addition to their constant, viscous personal attacks, they also attack what I’ve done in real life. It’s very telling about who they are as people. To them trying to save lives and give people piece of mind when they are ill or dying is deserving of ongoing mockery.

My current project is growing slowly, but it is giving people a chance to build a dream. People from about thirty countries have participated. Every day I get a note thanking us for even giving them a chance. What’s sad is I think some board members would have liked to take part, but knowing what the haters would do has stopped me from sharing.

To the group of haters, trying to help people is to be mocked. Trying to give people a voice is to be mocked and reviled. Most of the board will understand which is a more rational, more human and better position to take.

Again, they will have excuses for their actions. It’s what they do.

As has always been the case, my door will be always be open to almost all of you. If there’s ever anything I can do to help, just ask. If you are in SoCal and want to have a drink or go to a game, just call. If you don’t have my number or my email (I don’t use rjkarl@aol any more), many on the board do. Please ask them privately. Once again, I truly want to thank most of you for all the years of fun. It’s been my pleasure and my honor to know you.

Is tsy drunk?

For the first year or more you could create any user automatically.

It changed after we were hit by Russians if I recall correctly.

Think more general. I was referencing townies question of whether or not you could approve posters in general. I was just telling him regular mods do not have that capability.
 
RJs horse racing posts were pretty spot on, and were the easiest of his posts to read. Its very telling that over time, he was the only poster who could get under the skin of twdeac and myself. I cant think of two more easy going, friendly folks around, especially on the mod team.
