Totally Unofficial Soccer Transfer Thread (NWT)

If all of United's transfer dealings happened in one week instead of one summer then I'd probably be happy with how it turned out. But I've seen our listless attack 5 out of 6 games now and the transfer window cannot be viewed in a vacuum. Needed a better option at striker than Rooney and having two nineteen year olds as the #2 and 3 options is a risk.

Keeping Big Dave is brilliant if he can concentrate and play -- starting with Liverpool in two weekends -- but still could have done with an improvement to our CB options if we really want to challenge for the title, I think.

I'm amazed that United offloaded RVP and Chicharito and didn't add an established striker. Considering how ineffective Wayne Rooney has looked in the first 4 games of this season, it's truly stunning United with all that cash didn't bring someone like Cavani in.

United don't look to me to be anything close to a title contender. Couple that with the fact that Chelsea look like garbage so far this year and Arsenal didn't add even one field player, and you have to think that City has the chance to run away and hide.

Oh for fuck's sake.

Matt Law on Adebayor's non-transfer to Villa:

"The 31-year-old had been close to joining Aston Villa at the end of July, but stunned Villa officials when, having completed a medical and posed for pictures in the club's shirt, he stalled on the deal by claiming that he wanted a sign from God that it would be the correct move.

Adebayor is understood to have then consulted his pastor over the prospect of moving to the Midlands before finally deciding against the switch, much to the frustration of Villa manager Tim Sherwood."

Yedlin to that black hole known as Blunderland? WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Playing for Sunderland is better than doing nothing for Spurs. Who cares if Sunderland get relegated so long as Yedlin gets the chance at actual premier league experience.

Glad that Lennon is back permanently. I just hope he doesn't become another member of Island of Unused Wingers.

Lennon fit like a glove last season. I hope it wasn't just because he was trying to get a contract. If he plays like he played last season, he will be exactly the hard working, pressing player we need in midfield.

Martinez can't play Mirallas, Deulofeu, Lennon, McGeady, Oviedo, Kone, and Naismith all at once. So yes, men will languish on the bench. Hopefully squad rotation will keep at least 3 or 4 of these players in form.

Lennon always works insanely hard. He's a very good defensive winger. His problems are that his final ball can be very erratic, and that he gets hurt a lot and then takes ages to come back into form after returning from each of those injuries. If you got healthy Lennon permanently, he'd be a much more valuable player.

Do love the little guy though, he was part of a huge % of my all time favorite Spurs memories.

Seriously, Siff may be dead.

Thanks for your concern, my friend.

There are far better options than Blunderland. Far better. Of course it makes sense to leave Spurs. But Sunderland? Nothing good can come of it. It's a poorly run club with incompetent supporters (I acknowledge that I make this statement from nothing more than what I read on blogs, boards and elsewhere on the interwebz). RIP, DeAndre

IN:
Christian Fuchs - Free
Robert Huth - £3,000,000
Shinji Okazaki - £7,000,000
N'Golo Kante - £5,600,000
Yohan Benalouane - Undisclosed
Gokhan Inler - £5,000,000
Nathan Dyer - Season Long Loan

I really like what Leicester has been able to do this window. Solidified the defense by bringing back Huth and getting Fuchs on a free. They brought in two starting quality midfielders and I can't wait to watch Kante boss the midfield. On top of that they brought in pace and energy to go along with their pressing style. They're going to be fun to watch each week.

A good friend of mine has a 7 year old son who is a huge Real Madrid/CR7 fan. He sent me this text yesterday evening:

"Wow who is running these clubs?
Franklin has been laying in bed crying for 30 mins about the botched De Gea ManU to Real Madrid transfer. "Navas stinks" he is crying."

Just thought that was too funny not to share.
