Somewhere [Redacted] is laughing

Probably the number one reason I have faith that Manning will at least turn us into a decent basketball team over the next 2 years is because BKF is so sure that he won't - and justifies it by saying [Redacted] teams were more organized and motivated than Manning's.

Manning's first two years, bad as they may be, are ridiculously successful compared to the utter laughable humiliation that was [Redacted]'s first two years. His first actual recruiting class has 3 potential NBA players in it - [Redacted]'s didn't even feature a useful Wake player.

I didn't really think anyone would wistfully recall the successes of [Redacted] in year 2 of Manning's rebuild of a destroyed program - but it's happening. Jump on the BKF bandwagon for Buzz I guess - it'll just be more fun when we're good again.
Let's hold off on the NBA talk until we're better than 1 and freaking 10. None of them are close to NBA players at the moment.

serious question.... Why do peep care about wake sports? It's like the dudes that get raped by hedge fund scams

I guarantee less than a handful of posters on this board knew that Stetson was anything other than a hat before Bzdelick's team utterly shit the bed against them. Motivated my ass.

That was his very first game, as I remember. Kind of hard to judge a guy by his first game....and I realize that they struggled that entire year and lost other games to very questionable teams. In 2013, though, Buzz beat 2nd-ranked Miami. In 2014, he beat #4 Duke & #19 Carolina (and NC State)....and won a game in the ACCT.

But look, I'm not trying to defend Buzz. I've already said that he was a bad hire & a big mistake by Wellman. All I'm saying is that Manning is no better....and as far as bench coaching goes, is arguably even worse.

I picture redacted in a red velvet robe and slippers, drinking courvoisier in front of a roaring fire. He pets his dog "Ronnie" and chuckles when he see's our score trickle by on the TV....

There is not a single ACC team we have played (maybe Vtech but I'm on fence) where I would not have straight up traded all of their players for ours. The in-game coaching stuff is overblown---Manning will be successful if he can infuse talent that at least puts us on par with the teams we play day in and day out in the ACC. If he can't, his teams will suck. Bzd sucked because he couldn't get anybody to play for him. I believe Manning is now faced with a critical situation. The Giles recruitment set back the 2016 class. I'm purely speculating but I think Manning tried to put together an elite class built around Giles and whiffed. Now, we don't have any roster spots available for 2017 and no on-court momentum. My opinion of him as a coach will be whether he can somehow turnover the roster and bring in more talent---Postgrad/Euro/etc in 2016 and Top 100s for 2017. If not, there is just no way way can compete in this league.

Manning is recruiting much better. DT was Buzz' only legit ACC level recruit. DM has brought in 5 already. As a game coach, I agree with BKF that Manning is worse than Buzz. And that's very bad.

The Stetson loss is one that will haunt the basketball program for years to come. I fully believe it could be one of the worst losses in the history of the school and the conference.

We came close to losing our first game this year to a team worse than Stetson and squeaked by CCU. Thank goodness we didn't face Pat Kelsey and Winthrop this year.

5? Name 'em.

Gee, with 6 ACC-level players (nearly a full rotation), you'd think we'd be better than 1-10 (soon to be 1-13)!

[name redacted] inherited 3 years of CJ Harris and 4 years of Travis McKie on which to build. Manning gets 2 years of Devin and a broken CMM.

I'm guessing a starting lineup of Crawford/CJ/McKie/Dinos/Collins with Moore, Wilbekin, and Hudson coming off the bench would win a lot more games than [name redacted] did in his 2nd year.

If [name redacted] laughs these days it's because he pictured the piles of money he got for ruining our program.

You defended REDACTED up until nearly the end. You have no credibility when it comes to Wake Forest basketball.

Well, you guys ran Bz out of town and are getting 1-10 with a team that is way more talented than any that he ever put on the floor.

But nobody is calling for Manning to be fired after year 2 like you called for Bz because of why exactly? Because you like him more as a person?

Note: I'm not defending Bz. He was not a good coach for us. But the hypocrisy concerning how he was treated and how Manning is treated is ridiculous

I think Manning should be fired.

I also think this ridiculous notion that you can't fire a guy after just 2 years for underperforming would limit the coaches you could bring in is absolute nonsense.

How does that loss compare with Manning's loss to Delaware State last year? I couldn't find the comparable 2010-11 rating for Stetson, but Delaware State ended last year rated #282 by Jeff Sagarin.

Stetson may have been worse....but both are in the "never should happen" territory.

Ron Wellman should be fired tomorrow, btw. I would say today, but I can wait 22 minutes.

Nobody wants Wellman to make another hire.

If this season is any indication then we will have roster spots for the class of 2017. At least four guys on our team (Hudson, McClinton, Watson, and Wilbekin) are well below average talent if we want to be competitive. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if Dinos left after this year, either. Why put up with this if you can be a perfectly average, well compensated professional in your home country?

The problem now is next year.when/if we six again next year the Honeymoon will be over for Manning. What could he pitch. " hey guys my record sinks, but come on down and let's get this turn this program back on track,
