Is it really true that white men can,t jump ?
Going back 4 years, i believe it was deacvision7 who said the whole thing has to be burned down. Hatch, Wellman, Clawson, Manning, Cotton, Faircloth. Especially Wellman.
Give Manning credit the talent level is clearly improved. However, Manning is not going to outcoach anyone. Coaching matters and we have the short straw. The guy has yet to win an ACC road game. Another bad hire
You are minimizing the fact that our entire offense looked confused and bewildered the entire 2nd half because of Collins' adjustments that Manning never seemed to react to and counter.
You are making a simplistic argument beyond my own simplistic argument that "Crawford was forcing shit and costing us too many possessions so sit him." Play other players that will execute a game plan and go from there -- we miss open shots -- ok, that sucks, but ok.
We don't create open shots? That's a coaching problem.
This. Just turn it over to Childress. He recruits most of the guys anyway.
Exactly. Dm's end of game strategy was much less than stellar (even his end of first half strategy when we could have called a timeout and gone 2 for 1 but didn't) but to blame this loss on him is idiotic. How many games is a team going to win with the shooting stats we put up and every single guard outside Woods (who didn't play great by any means until the end of the game) playing like dog shit? Answer: likely 0.
I think Manning would be a great assistant working with the big men, but as a head coach, don't think so.
Okay now you're switching the argument so I'll respond to both. The only true point guard on the team outside of Crawford is Childress. He played terribly tonight too, as those forced up shots early in the shot clock were essentially turnovers. Wilbekin can't run point because he can't create for himself, let alone anyone else.
As for the offense stagnating, sure there should have been some adjustments made at key points (as I said earlier, I don't like the way Manning uses timeouts). Without Collins in the game we had no inside threat so all Northwestern had to do was guard the perimeter and they did that. There could have absolutely been some adjustment made but the bottom line is that guys have to hit shots to win a basketball game and we didn't do that. 31% FG and 24% 3FG is horrendous. We did have a lot of open shots throughout the game when Crawford and Childress weren't forcing the ball anywhere and we didn't hit them. Bad game all around.
Also, I don't know what Moore did exactly. Maybe Manning is tired of the moving screens.
Tonight was beyond frustrating ... Crawford was terrible tonight. After 5 turnovers, you have to play Childress, so that Crawford understands there are repurcussions to his awful play. I have no idea why McClinton plays at all, as he has the worst hands of any Wake big man I can remember. When Wilbekin plays like he did tonight, he should not be in there at the end of the game unless we need his foul shooting.
I didn't think Arians played that bad tonight and would have preferred to have him in there at the end of the game. Woods, Mitoglou and Collins should play as much as possible.
Danny needs to learn how to get this team's attention, because I reallyy hope that they are completely disregarding what he says, because if the plays we were running were what he called, then we are in more trouble than I thought.
McClinton was recruited as a 3, right?
Why do people keep saying he is a "big man"? You can dress a pig up in lipstick and a dress but it is still a pig. McClinton isn't a big man. And he never will be.
I sacrifice tonight to send a message to Crawford that is he doesn't play within himself and the team scheme that he won't play.
We would probably have lost with Chill or Wilb running the point the rest of the game but letting Crawford stew on the bench and not playing after giving him those words? Refocused player in the next game. Crawford wasn't going to win us the game tonight but he has the talent to win us future games.
We agree on Manning's use of TOs. They are nonsensical.
actually, I think the problem is Wilbekin, he just doesn't do much out there. As the season progresses, he will see less and less playing time with Childress and Arians playing more.
I think you are right, but Danny only plays him at the 4 and as far back as I can remember, I don't think he has made a shot from further away than 10 feet. That sounds like a 4 to me (and not the stretch 4 variety).
