We need a little Northwestern game noise

Going back 4 years, i believe it was deacvision7 who said the whole thing has to be burned down. Hatch, Wellman, Clawson, Manning, Cotton, Faircloth. Especially Wellman.

This all on Wellman. He should have been perp walked off campus years ago.

Until that jerk is dead or banned from campus Wake will suck.

We are living with the curse of Wellman.

This sounds like me. In exactly the same calm demeanor with no hyperbole. Me to a T!

This guy knows how to post.

Give Manning credit the talent level is clearly improved. However, Manning is not going to outcoach anyone. Coaching matters and we have the short straw. The guy has yet to win an ACC road game. Another bad hire

This. Just turn it over to Childress. He recruits most of the guys anyway.

Tonight was beyond frustrating ... Crawford was terrible tonight. After 5 turnovers, you have to play Childress, so that Crawford understands there are repurcussions to his awful play. I have no idea why McClinton plays at all, as he has the worst hands of any Wake big man I can remember. When Wilbekin plays like he did tonight, he should not be in there at the end of the game unless we need his foul shooting.

I didn't think Arians played that bad tonight and would have preferred to have him in there at the end of the game. Woods, Mitoglou and Collins should play as much as possible.

Danny needs to learn how to get this team's attention, because I reallyy hope that they are completely disregarding what he says, because if the plays we were running were what he called, then we are in more trouble than I thought.

Also, you forgot Schutt. That guy is the worst. Such a horribly transparent glad-handing clown.

You are minimizing the fact that our entire offense looked confused and bewildered the entire 2nd half because of Collins' adjustments that Manning never seemed to react to and counter.

You are making a simplistic argument beyond my own simplistic argument that "Crawford was forcing shit and costing us too many possessions so sit him." Play other players that will execute a game plan and go from there -- we miss open shots -- ok, that sucks, but ok.

We don't create open shots? That's a coaching problem.

Okay now you're switching the argument so I'll respond to both. The only true point guard on the team outside of Crawford is Childress. He played terribly tonight too, as those forced up shots early in the shot clock were essentially turnovers. Wilbekin can't run point because he can't create for himself, let alone anyone else.

As for the offense stagnating, sure there should have been some adjustments made at key points (as I said earlier, I don't like the way Manning uses timeouts). Without Collins in the game we had no inside threat so all Northwestern had to do was guard the perimeter and they did that. There could have absolutely been some adjustment made but the bottom line is that guys have to hit shots to win a basketball game and we didn't do that. 31% FG and 24% 3FG is horrendous. We did have a lot of open shots throughout the game when Crawford and Childress weren't forcing the ball anywhere and we didn't hit them. Bad game all around.

Also, I don't know what Moore did exactly. Maybe Manning is tired of the moving screens.

STUPID STUPID STUPID

Go from a coach with minimal college basketball HC experience to a guy with literally zero college basketball HC experience. How stupid of a suggestion is this?

Exactly. Dm's end of game strategy was much less than stellar (even his end of first half strategy when we could have called a timeout and gone 2 for 1 but didn't) but to blame this loss on him is idiotic. How many games is a team going to win with the shooting stats we put up and every single guard outside Woods (who didn't play great by any means until the end of the game) playing like dog shit? Answer: likely 0.

It's not like we were getting a bunch of great shots and not knocking them down. I don't recall a single time tonight where we made that one extra pass that led to a wide open shot. Instead, it was a bunch of guys trying to go one on one (or two) and forcing up contested shots. Or forcing lazy passes into traffic. At some point you would hope that your coach on the court gets the offense flowing like it should. When he's the main problem, then the coach on the sideline better be able to step in and get the mindset right. That certainly didn't happen tonight.

McClinton was recruited as a 3, right?

Why do people keep saying he is a "big man"? You can dress a pig up in lipstick and a dress but it is still a pig. McClinton isn't a big man. And he never will be.

I sacrifice tonight to send a message to Crawford that is he doesn't play within himself and the team scheme that he won't play.

We would probably have lost with Chill or Wilb running the point the rest of the game but letting Crawford stew on the bench and not playing after giving him those words? Refocused player in the next game. Crawford wasn't going to win us the game tonight but he has the talent to win us future games.

We agree on Manning's use of TOs. They are nonsensical.

He did. And Childress was horrible too. Of course, Manning doubled down and put them in together and their lineups were -10.

I think you are right, but Danny only plays him at the 4 and as far back as I can remember, I don't think he has made a shot from further away than 10 feet. That sounds like a 4 to me (and not the stretch 4 variety).

Okay we're getting closer to an understanding of some sort. Obviously Crawford played like garbage tonight but in a close game like that you have to make a choice as a coach to either leave in your best point guard hoping he can play through it or put in a back up who has yet to prove he can lead you to a win in a close game. It's a difficult choice and Manning made it the way he saw best. I agree early in the game when Crawford plays like that you have to sit him and let someone on your coaching staff chew him out, but toward the end of the game with limited other options sometimes your hands are tied. Basically, all I was trying to say originally was that blaming the loss entirely on Manning is not sensible. When all of your guards play as poorly as our did today it's going to be tough to win a basketball game.

actually, I think the problem is Wilbekin, he just doesn't do much out there. As the season progresses, he will see less and less playing time with Childress and Arians playing more.

No it won't happen. DM loves MW. Coache's pet.

I think Manning played Mcclinton more than usual tonight because Arians wasn't hitting shots and he's not a good defender. Mcclinton also played because obviously Doral was in the dog-house and we were forced to play Dinos at the 5 for a decent amount of minutes today. I would like an explanation why Doral didn't play much at all today. He's done that with him for two games. What good is a having a guy on the team if he is only going to be used against certain teams with certain personnel? Seems stupid to me.
