Official '16-17 NBA Thread: not with a bang but a whimper

Is that good?

He caught a knee in the bank while taking a charge. It was a completely fluke injury.

He is playing the same sport that everyone else is playing, where "fluke" contact occurs on every play, yet he gets hurt to the degree of missing games at a higher rate than most other players. It's not like he was in a car wreck completely unrelated to the sport. Staying healthy while playing the sport is a natural talent that can be improved with various types of work, the same as shooting or jumping, and is just as important as any other attribute with regards to his ultimate production. Would you give the biggest contract in the history of the sport to a player that had another glaring hole in his game, like not being able to shoot or dribble as well as the average player at his position? It is stupid when people ignore a player's injury history when evaluating them as a player for any purpose, and especially for contractual purposes. Staying on the floor is a skill that is just as important as any other.

Or say, if he was #tooathletic?

He's averaged over 70 games per year during his NBA career

Can you imagine how many MVPs Russ would have won in the 60's and 70's?

All of them.

The [Redacted] effect, 15-16 season defensive efficiency rankings:

Memphis #20
Houston #22

16-17 so far:

Memphis #4
Houston #25

Pretty wild night in the association. Cavs, Clipse, Spurs all lose to Bux, Nets, and Magic.

YO PLAMA, your Hakeem OJahjuwon takes might have been a little early.

damn i didn't realize the process had taken 30 3s.

can the hornets start sucking again so we lose 2&2?

And if either played for :paul Westhead their numbers would be higher.

It's sort of like Doral Moore's Per 36 projections from last year. Of course he would have had to be allowed to have about 8 fouls.

he's lapping ppl in ROY this year

this class has been a big disappointment

was listening to sixers beat podcast this AM, and it's absurd the impact he has when he's in the game vs out

covington is the only other good defender of his position on the team and he's having a turrible offensive year
