BBall Recruiting Thread 2k18 - Hoard, Mucius, Lewis, and Wright sign NLIs!

this post from the Gamecock board is interesting, have no idea of the credibility of the poster:

I can tell you after watching West Florence play quite a few times the last couple of years that Sharon Jr. is a very talented kid but I have never seen max effort from him. The WF coach does not require the type of defense Martin is looking for. In fact, I have no idea what their defensive strategy is. Sharon is a quality offensive player but he glides all the time and doesn't appear to hustle very much. Could that change under different leadership? I'm sure it could, and I hope it does. I have never thought he was close to as good as he should be at this point. I would've been happy to see him in garnet and black, but I didn't see it as a good fit.

Childress directly recruited the kid who is going to be competing with his own kid for playing time by appealing to the kid's dad who he played against in college.

Just a weird quirk of the situation.

Realistically, this kid is going to be 2 years behind Childress, right? If Jr. Childress isn't better than a freshman 3/4* recruit, that would be surprising. If Wright is good enough to start from day one, it will be because of massive physical ability, and you can't argue much with that. Lots of things can intervene between now and then, but the notion that this kid threatens Chill's court time is really far down the road of possibilities.

He plays the same position. Of course he'll threaten Childress' playing time. That's what he's supposed to do.

I agree Childress will start over him and his ranking won't scare off any of the top point guards that we're recruiting in the 2019 class.

That being said, he has some unique potential with his size and if he capitalizes on that we could be very pleased with him.

A tall PG? We haven't had one of those since, well, forever. Whether he ends up as PG or SG, it's good to have some length there. Creates all kinds of potential matchup problems. And if he ends up being a 6'8" SF, that's not so bad either.

HS is dramatically different than college. His dad knows Danny and Chill. I bet dad will be telling to get all over his kid.

Guys, you have to realize our D will be different going forward than it was last year. JC and Bryant couldn't play as intensely as our future players will. Neither could afford to be off the court with foul trouble. Then you add three wings who aren't defenders and our D was inevitable. We are getting better players. Our D will be better.

Yup, prolly since this guy

Earvin Murray is now a banker with Suntrust in Wilmington. Very nice guy

Nice. One of my favorite players.

We play Childress and Crawford together all the time right now, no reason at all to worry about Wright and Childress playing together, especially considering the height difference.

This kid has the kind of potential that should be fun to watch go through the Manning factory. Great pickup.

With the listed heights of his parents, this kid could end up at PF size with point guard training. That would be interesting.

One of the top PGs of all time, Magic Johnson, is 6'9". Obviously there's a huge talent gap between almost every PG and him but height is a great luxury to have. Enables players to guard taller opponents and take advantage of small guys on offense.

I don't think either Chill is worried about little Chill's playing time. They are both cocky motherfuckers (in a good way). We could have landed Dotson and Chill would be like "cool, he can play when I leave."

Do we know where Wright will play his senior season yet? I know he announced he was leaving West Florence but I've not seen a destination.

They probably got Smart off of our 247 page. I don't think we've been much of a factor in his recruitment for awhile.
