Report: Kavanaugh won’t commit to recusal from Trump/Mueller related matters

Yeah, but that was before she really—really—thought about it and realized it was him all along. Coupled with her own admission that she was blackout drunk, I can’t imagine how anyone could doubt her.

How about the multiple other people who remember hearing about the incident? Including those who were talking about it just months ago?

shouldn't the GOP be shocked and appalled that an upstanding Christian man tried to have sex before marriage?

It always seemed strange to me after Mr. Judge's book was discussed, that Kavanaugh hung around with this guy who partied hard with alcohol and gang raped girls, but Bart somehow remained clean.

Haven’t read the book

Would be surprised to learn that Judge admitted raping women

Kavanaugh giving an interview on Fox News to essentially campaign for votes for his confirmation is a troubling blurring of the lines.

So the accuser should get a presumption of truth when the stakes are high. Seems legit.

You are the one who suggested that we needed to look at all the facts and circumstances.

I mean, I get it. You have decided, for whatever reason, that this particular guy MUST be on the Court. So just be like lectro and say that you don't care about whether he did anything of which he has been accused and move on. Establishing a position and then being forced to come up with stuff like "well, if had wanted to raper her, he would have raped her" when your position falls apart doesn't reflect well.

He also basically brags about having threesomes and getting hammered. Neither of which are disqualifying, but does lend some credence to Ford and Avenetti’s client’s accounts.

I don’t watch Fox News. Is this serious? He actually went on to defend himself? I’m sure he got the thorough and scrutinizing questions that Fox hosts are used to asking like-minded conservatives :eyeroll:

If a 17 year old football player wants to rape a 15 year old girl, he’s not going to let his drunk buddy jumping on the bed stop him. Also, other than Ford, BK has not—credibly or not credibly—otherwise been accused of forcible attempted rape. I think it is unlikely that a 17 year old male who attempted forcible rape on a stranger at a party would not have tried it again.

I think there are 4 primary options:

1. She’s lying
2. Some version of it happened but it is a case of mistaken identity
3. Some version of it happened with BK but she is misremembering and exaggerating the threat posed by BK
4. He’s lying

Because of the above, assuming she is believable, I think 3 is more likely than 4.

Junebug professes to know a lot about the mind of a 17 year old would be rapist. Got something you need to get off your chest?

We are about 3 pages from someone claiming that if it was a legitimate rape attempt, Ford's body would have shut it down.

They asked fairly reasonable questions but he stuck to talking points the whole time, constantly repeating himself "Fair process," "never sexually assaulted anyone." He had his wife sitting there as a prop I guess and when she was asked a question about whether the claims should be investigated, she obviously wasn't going to respond and he offered up the 'fair process" line again.

Even moreso because the stakes are high. This process is about making sure that the Justices on the Supreme Court have the character and fitness to serve. It’s not about making sure Kavanaugh is treated fairly.

If it turns out these claims are malicious lies, Kavanaugh has a recourse. Sure, it would suck for him personally that such claims scuttled his chance to serve on the Supreme Court, but that’s not America’s problem.

Uhhh yeah, that would absolutely be America's problem.

at the very minimum, the yearbook quotes prove that Kavanaugh was a huge douche in high school who hung around with other douches.

Wait, what? No.

I have bragged about having threesomes and getting hammered. Fuck, that was basically the entirety of my 20s. I never sexually assaulted a woman. How are these things even remotely related?

The list of people who are federal judges but not also what most people would describe as "huge douches" is probably a very short list.

Wow, he really ruined her life. I just hope she can find the strength to carry on.

It’s misleading, at best, to call this “abuse.” He was referring to the fact he went on a date with her or kissed her. BFD.

Kavanaugh could tie up a teenage girl on Times Square and fuck her against her will, but Junebug and Lectro will come up with an excuse that it was her fault.

Has any of the board defenders explained why it matters to them so so much? There are other potential conservative justices to nominate, hell there are probably more conservative purists to nominate. You have no personal loyalty to him, he’s not your friend, he can just drop back into obscurity and live his cushy life.
