Makes sense. the stupid Stag is still on the credits logo. Show ends in the same state as it starts. War, war never changes

Why else make him “legitimate”
 
i'd like for it to end with the camera panning out and we see George RR Martin close the book while sitting on his toilet which is decorated to look like the iron throne

Yes.

Camera opens from fade to the pages of an open, leather-bound book; pictures of Queen Dany and King Jon holding hands across the unoccupied Iron Throne. Slowly, the camera pulls away, revealing that the book rests astride GRRM's shock-white, pasty, hairy legs - his pants and soiled tighty whities crumpled loosely around his ankles. The camera pans slowly to his face, which is awash in unmitigated glee - his broad smile opens to reveal that he has just eaten what must have been an entire bag of Oreo's; black grit filling every crevice. The camera continues to focus on his mirthful face as it pulls away. A low, deep rumble of a chuckle begins to build from GRRM, but that meek sound is quickly drown by hearty sounds of flatulence - a cacophony of sound; shit undoubtedly spraying the entirety of the bowl and his underside. Only a long, hot shower will provide respite from this soiling. A moment passes and the chuckle returns, but this time the mirth is gone; only a loud, soulless cackle fills the viewer as the screen fades to black.

I love that Benioff and Weiss were just handed a Star Wars movie or 3. No wonder they checked this in. Now they can go destroy some more franchises
