Jamie Newman vs. Utah State 401 passing yards, #9 all time

Newman was the best QB out there tonight. Was unimpressed with Love.

Newman may not be on our team next season.

Newman has outplayed two top QB prospects in his last 3 games. He should be on the NFL radar.

Clearly it was game one; however, I would like to see him look more vertical during a game. Until the last drive he seemed to be hyper focused on under 10 yard throws.

Would like for Clawson to stop hamstringing him. Stuff the stupid fake RPO. Let him pass more and that will open up the run game. Just please stop beaing your head against the way calling a play that does not work-- OL was dominated all night

Yeah, it's tough to tell when the camera doesn't show the whole story (fopr those of us watching on tv) , but that was the thought I had too. Also, Utah State's DLine was more physical than our O-line. Not in a Clemson-like way, but enough to where it's tough to bomb it consistently.

It looked like we put an emphasis on trying to keep him in the pocket and not rolling him out which is...different.

He’s got skills and size and seems to play well under pressure.

Congratulations, Jamie.

He can really sling the rock and appears to have some serious leadership skills. I thought he would be a bit more mobile in the pocket and be a better runner but I'll take him as is- Kid can play!

The first quarter was atrocious and he didn't run the ball particularly well but came through in crunch. I don't think I ever remember a game with more 2yd runs and passes

Was at the game. Outstanding performance numbers wise. Especially given that he missed a couple of wide open receivers but I’ll take that given he made no bad mistakes (turnovers). Agree that we were conservative with play calling. Also agree there was too much rpo. Newman at times looked like an nfl qb tonight. Very excited about his season.

he’s only started five games but damn has he been good - especially decision-making. along w rpo, i can’t recall him making a bad interception (or near-interception). even the one in the bham bowl was a bad throw, not a bad decision.

(By misses I mean didn’t see them. Not talking about his accuracy.)

It’s weird to watch him celebrate after big plays because he’s so calm, cool and collected the other 99%. He doesn’t waste energy celebrating normal touchdowns. Love him.

It seemed like every stoppage of play he was communicating with his teammates. Definitely showed leadership out there. It's nice to have a settled QB situation and get a win.
