Official Election Month Thread: COUP falls short, nothing to see here

based on nothing but gut, my feelings are that Republicans in GA will turn out at a higher clip than Dems for a runoff without a presidential race at the top of the ballot

I think there’s plenty of anti-Mitch sentiment to fuel Dem turnout.

Some of this depends on how Trump handles being a lame duck. I can’t see him rallying the party for these elections. Republican turnout was fueled by pro-Trump sentiment. Are Perdue and Loeffler going to stand with a defeated Trump?

Sure, evangelicals and hardcore Pubs who always vote in every election will. Though Pub turnout was great this year, it wasn't in 2018, and this runoff will be more like a midterm. And assuming Trump loses, I don't expect him to camp out in GA like Joe and Barack will. A significant part of Trump's base are folks who didn't used to vote in every election. I really think 1 change that Trump has made to US politics is that he's flipped interest in midterms from Pub to Dem. So I have some hope for this 1.

That's fair - I just think the messaging of mandatory abortions, antifa-run death camps and the shuttering of all JESUS's churches will get the turnout the Republicans need.

"Hey Dawg fans, do y'all want higher taxes, court expansion, two new states that will ensure 1 party rule for decades? Vote Ossoff and Warnock!"

In all seriousness, the likelihood of the people who voted Libertarian voting Democrat is less likely than them voting Republican.

my hope is that Loeffler is just too far beyond the pale for enough voters

highly unlikely for either Dem, but seems like she's nuts enough to maybe lose

That assumes they vote. If they showed up for a tight election that needed 50% and voted for the Libertarian, maybe they just really liked the Libertarian or want to sow chaos.

On the GA elections site, Perdue is now listed at 49.99%. Looks like GA gets a huge economic boost until January.

At least it’s a 2 for 1.

She’s clearly an unappealing candidate. I think Dems can get a corruption message to stick on Perdue/Loeffler better than they can on Trump.

Georgia citizens aren't going to see anything but political commercials on their television sets until January 6th. Both bases will be mobilized. Assuming one won't be doesn't make sense to me when it'll be very apparent that it's more than representation for the state on the ballot.

I can see Loeffler losing because of profiting off Covid, but think Perdue will win.

You are correct, both Texas and Florida were handed to trump because they fear socialism and did not get a response from the party to trump ads, If you want there support you have got to listen to the voters.

pretty excited to see that PFTCommenter is now one of our posters

Perdue also profited off of Covid and ducked the final debate with Ossoff.

Kelly Loeffler and Doug Collins spent the last six months tripping over themselves to prove who was more loyal to Trump. Hence the Loeffler “more conservative than Genghis Khan ad.

If the networks call Nevada this afternoon, would Fox news go ahead and declare Biden the Prez/elect because they would have him at 270 while everybody else would be at 259?

Please let Fox News be the first program to declare

Nate Silver thinks NV is close to being callable for Biden at this point, per the 538 liveblog
