2021-22 Wake Forest Basketball Season - 25-9 (13-7), KP#33

I truly believe we beat State we’re in no matter what happens in ACC….ACC tournament is about seeding and if we lose the first as a 5 seed we’ll drop to 10 or 11, win a couple games maybe a 7 or 8. If UNC Is already in no matter if Duke boat races them and they lose to us as a 5…well the fix is in

7/8 is not attainable barring a championship game run in the tourney. maybe a 9 with two wins, maybe. Otherwise looking at 10-11.

It will be dependent on what happens in the conference tournaments. WF needs to root against conference tournament upsets. Last year, Georgetown and Oregon State stole at large bids by winning their conference tourneys. If that happens again, a couple of at large locks lose out.

We have put ourselves very much in the camp of having to root against at large bids being stolen. It happens every year, so expect a few and hope for the best. We need to win 3 more games for this not to be the case. If we lose one of the next 2, we are in trouble.

Fun article. Not a ton of new information, liked the reality board. Forbes sounds committed to the program. Like that he and Clawson have a good relationship. Currie emphasized he wants Forbes to finish his career here.

“My outlook on life and my job has changed as I’ve gotten older,” Forbes says. “It’s been a constant battle to try to rise in the profession, but I’ve never hit a single and landed on third base, either. I’ve earned my way here, and I wouldn’t change my path for anything, but I’m at the point where for my family and for myself, I want stability. And I want to build. And I want to be at the highest level. I’m pretty sure you can’t get any higher than the ACC.”

I believe that can happen if Currie is given the re$ource$ he needs. Unless a particular spot in Iowa opens up soon.

Quick question on the NET rankings...the focus is on quadrant wins, but how can Iowa be #18 and Wake at #42? Their profile looks very similar to Wake's so I was just curious what would cause them to be so much higher. If they have played 15 Q1 & Q2 games, and Wake has played 13, then I wouldn't think the SOS we be so drastically different to put them so high. I don't think Wake should be higher, but from the profile think Iowa should be more in the 30-40 range, and wasn't sure what I am missing.

WF is the only ACC team ending the regular season this Wednesday. The extra days of rest could help going into the ACC tournament. If we do have to play a second-round, game, we will have had a full week of prep and recovery.

New arena in the 8k range would be ideal.

Forbes likes the Carrier Dome, so maybe we can go with the McCreary Dome at Truist Field.

If?

I hate UNC as much as the next WF fan, but they played a much tougher OOC schedule than WF. That matters because that is controllable. If a school plays a tough schedule, even if you lose games, it helps more than playing all home games against teams in the bottom quarter of college basketball; those results are essentially ignored by the committee as every team under at-large consideration would sweep Charleston Southern, William and Mary, Western Carolina and USC Upstate. I get why WF scheduled they way it did given WF recent awful history. WF needed a winning season, and even the most optimistic WF people didn't forsee WF as a top team in the ACC. Forbes has already said that WF would've scheduled differently in retrospect.
