Clemson @ WFU - Saturday 9/24 - 12 Noon ABC

I know Sam has said he's done after this year, but I won't be entirely shocked if he's back at Wake or even another college sideline next year. A quick google of "Sam Hartman draft prospects" has him anywhere from around #6 QB down to #20. If for some reason it ends up more towards the later (which based on my limited knowledge of what makes a draftable QB, I'd highly doubt), but a guy with his skill set, maturity and leadership could command several million $$ for one year at any number of colleges with the need for and the resources to pay him. And my observation is not about Sam per se, but with the new world of NIL a college QB as a proven commodity has a market value now that could in the right situation dwarf that of a clipboard holder/backwards hat guy on an NFL roster.
If Sam is back next year, I’d bet the house that it wouldn’t be for any other college team than Wake. With that said, if he can get picked up as a NFL QB he should go obviously, but the big knock on him is going to be arm strength. He does routinely under throw his receivers on deep routes. Hope he is back.
Yep. Also, the defense was pretty mediocre as a whole despite getting its act together after its miserable first quarter. Injuries definitely factor into the reason why our secondary was weaker than usual, but man our D-Line play was downright bad for a lot of the game.
DL needed a little more help. Tough to get any push rushing three. I think the game plan was to make DJ beat us with his arm, and by god I didn’t think he could do it. Credit where it’s due. He had some spectacular throws yesterday, but wouldn’t blame the DL for the lack of pressure or say they played really bad, IMHO. Secondary missed Carson and Davis badly. JJ Roberts was getting abused there down the stretch.

We just didn't put any pressure on the QB the entire game and it showed. We had one sack the entire game iirc. I think we got to DJ maybe twice in this game?

The lack of pressure on 3rd downs was excruciating to watch after their 10th 3rd and long completion.

I've been posting on Wake boards for over a decade and there is a class of poster who would rather rag on their fellow fans after a bad loss, and I have never understood those people. Just assholes tbh, but I'm sure they know that already.
You think it’s the ones ragging on the guys who were super negative the whole game thread are the bigger assholes than the ones who were super negative?

Yeah.

What's wrong with being super negative? You don't have to let yourself be moved by negativity, but tone policing it is silly. If you want to have your heart warmed by rays of sunshine, then you should game thread over on 247. There's OGB chat thread game chatting, too.

I think fans that rag on fans really suck. Game threads are an outlet for folks to live chat during a football game.

To be fair the dude is really hard to take to the ground. He dropped a dime from one leg when one of our defenders was trying to take him down

I think it was jasheen Davis who had one of his legs up in the air. No small feat to shrug off Jasheen and hit your throw.

I’m just getting settled at home from travel back from game. Felt like wake-wvu ncaa game for me. Everyone texting me great game and I so want to say “fuck off.” Just gut wrenching.

Anyone criticizing Hartman is a poop face. Again, poop face. Game gods just said fuck you wake as usual. Had someone told me hartman would have six tds, wake would have over 100 rushing, and no turnovers - I would have bet my house on wake.

Crowd was great.

Crowd was great.

Matt Fortuna's Saturday recap featured our match-up as the lede. He said this about the crowd: "While we’re at it, a shout-out to the sold-out crowd at Truist Field, which absolutely made a difference and proved once again that this sport can deliver memorable moments anywhere."

I still can't find the broadcast replay, despite paying for ESPN, Spectrum, YouTubeTV, et Al.

But, I see this behavior at 4:05 of this clip and can only say: that's a dude that needs his ass kicked.

99.9% of the people reading/posting here don't get a Walt Disney-approved narrative on their personal tragedies.

That dude IS an asshole, and whatever story our first-time poster has been spoon fed doesn't excuse it.

Disagree with this. Wake was the better team against WVU, but got screwed playing a hot underdog in what was basically a road game. That kept the game close enough that Wake made some key mistakes under pressure and got upset. Yesterday was a very good game between two very good teams, but Wake was the underdog and almost pulled it off. Personal feelings may differ, of course, and while I was in Cleveland, I did not attend yesterday. I was disappointed that Wake lost yesterday, but I'm excited that Wake is at the point where that game was basically a toss up and looking forward to the rest of the season. The Wake team that was on the field can beat everyone left on the schedule. The only thing left after the WVU game was a fucking horrible 8 hour drive home.

I think it was fairly brilliant by DC and Rug, Sam just made bad reads on 1st and 2nd downs after two bully ball first downs running the ball and controlling the clock. Note, Sam played great.

For the 7th time, I still want to throw up due to the lack of blitzing on obvious passing downs.

If you're paying for all that then you have access to WatchESPN where the broadcast replay is available.

The WVU game felt like the end of something. This killed me, but it didn’t feel like the end of anything.

Also, you can have YouTubeTV record every televised Wake game, which is essentially every game except one that is televised by Bally Sports.

That last drive in regulation was meh.

Yeah the loss of yards on first down and then the sack on second were brutal at the end of the fourth. This loss hurt because we aren't going to get many realistic chances to beat Clemson. The defense couldn't get pressure but they did get some stops to keep us in the game.
