2023 Football Scholly Tracker | In: Roberts (A&T LB), Ganious (Nova DT), Merrill (Vols WR)

I think it's the only somewhat sustainable model. You have $2.5M in player "salaries" every year, and then set aside another $1M a year to retain stars, give bonuses, buy players, whatever we wanna call it. Wake still has a lot to offer outside of cash.

So basically I'm saying we have a budget of $3.5M a year for NIL football money. That's not a lot of money for the big swingers on the board of RTQ when split up.
We’ll see. We haven’t talked much about bball and NIL but I’m curious how much of that budget is going to go toward that. It will be easier to become competitive in bball if we can buy a few players. I just have no idea what those numbers will look like.

Yeah that's true. Will be interesting to see how things are split up. With Clawson and the money we've invested in football, I know it the program won't be neglected. But it's true that it's easier to buy wins with a handful of basketball players.

I care muuuuuuch more about football, but if we can buy sustained legit national relevance in bball at the expense of football, then let’s do it.

Maybe we can trade Cooley for this guy. Although I doubt his Liberty credits would transfer.

Barring injury Dae Dae Hunter will play on Sundays.

Yep. Look at the transfer numbers. The schools with the most people in the portal are all “big name” schools.

Because even the back up recruits at “big name” schools were highly touted and expected to get playing time or even start.

The guys who planned to ride the bench for 2 years aren’t the ones transferring.

Yep. At the end of the day playing time is still going to outweigh NIL in most cases.

Particularly true for the guys with aspirations of playing in the NFL. Doesn't matter how realistic those aspirations are. Guys know that if they aren't playing somewhere, those aspirations will not come to fruition. Thus the guys in waiting will be itching to move somewhere they can play right away. It would ne nice if Wake could attract some of those 4 star bench warmers.

ROI on pretty good football has a better outlook than top level bball in my opinion, at least in the current college sports landscape

Another one.
