Official 2023-24 NBA Season Thread - Celtics advance, T-Wolves survive for now

weird take

This squad drafted a buncha Tarholes and has sucked for basically its entire existence.

Okafor, May, Felton, Morrison, MKG, the Accessory - an endless stream of mediocrity that sucked the fan right out of me.

Gerald Wallace to the Hall of Fame tho

Guessing Oubre will keep playing at an All NBA level like this all season?

76ers outplayed Bucks except for a bad stretch from 5:27 to 3:02 in the 4th. Good coaching by Nurse despite some home cooking calls too.

Got to concentrate and do what they eventually did, which was go to the basket.

Dame was terrific, bit just like the Spurs putting forwards on Doncic and Hardaway, Oubre on Dame failed because he can't stay with his quicker man.

Saw the pro Deacs Instagram post and it was surprised to see we only have 4 guys in the league now. Hoard is playing in Israel!?

yeah I guess I thought that Aminu and James Johnson were still in the league

Aminu was part of the DeRozan trade in the 2021 offseason and got cut by the Spurs. He hasn't played since.
JJ was on the Pacers last season and hasn't signed with anyone.

As far as I can tell, this is the fewest former Wake players in the NBA since 2002 when Darius Songaila joined Rodney Rogers, Tim Duncan, and Loren Woods in the league.

I think Alondes is the only Wake player expected to be on a G-League roster.

Sixers lead for about 6 minutes in the game, so hard to say they outplayed the Bucks but, yeah, Dame was awesome and it was nice to see the Bucks get the W with Giannis having an off night (-13, really bad) and Middleton still on a minutes restriction, and with the sixers hitting 45% of their threes.

Missing the self pass on the go ahead Dame 3 was fun. Some nice mid season form from the officials down the stretch, and Dame and Giannis took about as many FTs as the Sixer team.

I’m not sure I take away many positives though, Oubre played out of his mind offensively, not a lot of motion in the offense even though that was talked about all preseason, Jo was really rusty missing good looks. Feels like a good year to only watch the national games and not have league pass.

Haha, welcome to Oubre's world. He is the personification of the Hot Hand. He'll have one game where he goes 8-9 and then go 2-14 the next night. But he'll keep chucking either way. And it is all just points, you get minimal rebounds for his size, zero assists, and absolutely zero defense. But when it is one of his hot nights, everyone in the building knows it is going in before he even shoots it. He quickly becomes a fan favorite and the ladies adore him.

I had hoped the Hornets would resign him as he is a fun player to watch and root for. But he really needs to be in the perfect situation with teammates than can balance him out when he is ice cold, because he'll shoot you out of as many games as he keeps you in.

I didn't realize Garrett Temple was in the league much less on his 12th team.

Idk, I guess what 2&2 said. Can’t defend, that’s for sure.
Yes. So why are they sticking him on Dame for the final 6 minutes of the game?

I have seen some things in the Spurs game, then 76ers game, which made me pause and go "the better team just lost."
