2024 Carolina Panthers thread - Schedule release (No primetime games)

Coker - the WR out of Holy Cross could be a steal; very technically sound and dominated at Holy Cross, the only knock is that it's unclear if he has NFL athleticism

Shirden - the RB out of Monmouth is tiny (listed at 5'9" but def shorter) but put up astronomical numbers - 7.3 yards per carry over a 3 year career, lead all of college in rushing yards 2 years in a row... but also from a small school so just not clear if he'll translate to the NFL enough to draft

The Thicker Kicker - the K out of Mizzou is a big boy, but did a 61-yard GW FG this past fall

Not saying they're better, but I think there could be some players in this mix of guys. I really like Coker.

If Smitty likes him and gives him THAT comp, I’m sold.

Yeah, Coker could have been drafted and has potential. Shirden started blowing up from nowhere in the draft process like Laube from UNH because Shirden looked really fast on tape. People were thinking he could be this year's Keaton Mitchell. But then he "only" ran a 4.46 at the combine, so interest in him kinda waned after the combine. In addition to those 2, ZTF the edge from UW and Richardson the S from A&M could be interesting.

Smitty liked Mingo.

Mingo is fine, especially if he now has coaching that can teach him how to run a route. But Bryce needs time to throw the football without getting dismembered every time he drops back to pass.

Mingo was not fine last year, he was irrelevant. hopefully a year of more training and learning we will see the value we drafted.

I saw where Field Yates had the Leggette pick as one of his 5 favorite round 1 picks.

I've not really seen the pick criticized anywhere.

Yahoo has Brooks as their 4th rated rookie in fantasy. So that's something.

I can't find it now, but I remember around or during training camp Smitty said he still loved Mingo but it would be a season or so before he "got it"

The Ringer had the Panthers draft ranked last as a D+ and said Leggette was his 81st-ranked player
Here's the NFL Stock Exchange's Rogers and Sikkema draft review, and they both gave Carolina a C+. The only 1 they hated was Wallace, and they didn't mind the Leggette and Brooks picks. Trigger warning: they're from PFF, so exercise caution in deciding whether to view.

Yates also listed Barrett as one of his 5 favorite picks in round 7.

I like Leggette because he and I sound about the same when we talk.

is bryce eligible for comeback player of the year in 2024?

Bryce should be eligible for rookie of the year in 2024 given what he had to work with last year. That shouldn't even count
