That’s why y’all don’t understand the masses. You can’t truly understand the American people until you’ve gotten diarrhea from a Quincy’s. I bet @bmoneydeac has. #ManofthePeople

Red Lobster and the OG were family birthday level restaurants for us so we’d spring for them a couple times a year. In fact my dad had this maroon colored golf shirt that perfectly matched the color of the napkins at The OG that he would wear there.

Our main spot to eat was SHONEY’S. God I can taste the deviled crab on seafood night right now.

We were a Ryan’s family for our buffet needs. Right across the street from Pensacola Christian College, a college which until recently was unaccredited by choice. Ain’t no woke accreditors gonna tell them what to teach.

Every HS debate tournament trip ended with a visit to Shoney's. And every visit had me order the country fried steak and a plate from the salad bar that had a couple of pieces of lettuce piled with every topping available... REAL bacon bits! Sunflower seeds!

We did a HS debate tournament in Thomasville, GA every year and would go to Shoney’s. The high school where Charlie Ward went.

Wasn't Shoneys famous for some sort of pie? Maybe cherry pie? I vaguely remember this from childhood.

We frequented Darryl's, Golden Corral, and Carrabbas the most of any of the chains. And Bonefish if we were feeling fancy.

These days, I try to avoid chains as much as possible.

Well apparently red lobster didn't understand the masses either, because they lost 15 million dollars with all you can eat shrimp special. Americans would just sit in their booths for hours eating plate after plate of shrimp. So not only could the restaurant not turn tables over, they also couldn't make money off of the patrons they had seated.
And you know those patrons tip for the time/space they take up...

Ugh I ordered country fried steak last weekend for the first time in like 25 years and remembered how disgusting it was. Plus I’m 99% sure it was pre-prepared and they just gave it a quick dunk in the fryer before serving it to me.

I have probably eaten at the Golden Corral in Louisburg, NC 25+ times. Lovely place. Always filled with great people.

No idea why, but we traveled down to a tournament in Lee County and then another one in Troy, AL. but that's the furthest I remember traveling for one.

Most of ours were in FL. Our big rival high school for debate was Niceville, another IB program. Matt Gaetz went there at the same time I was in HS and did debate so if he did policy debate there’s a 100% chance I debated him. I could never find what type he did.

And there were the NFL and CFL state tournaments in Tampa every year. We’d go to Busch Gardens after one of them.

Last time I had it was when I got dragged to a Texas Roadhouse 7-8 years ago. Unfortunately, I am supposed to eat soft foods for the next week, so all this food talk isn't helping my attitude. Anyone got some good recs for food to eat that doesn't require chewing???
