It's 100% this. It's the same reason why hockey is an objectively more violent and physical sport, yet you see less career ending/changing injuries, like dudes blowing out their knees and rupturing Achilles. The types of movements and the speed at which you need to make them to play in the modern NBA places more stress on the body and makes it way more likely to suffer a debilitating injury.Back then they were pushing to the limit from a toughness perspective. Now they are pushing to the limit from a performance perspective. I think the latter makes you more prone to injuries because bodies are moving so much faster.

Is Haliburton the best non-Curry PG in the NBA
Yes. And Sabonis is probably the best non-Jokic or Embiid C in the NBA. The rare blockbuster trade that worked.
How is that Haliburton's first triple-double? That's nuts.
I feel like if NBA media had to pick a team to win the IST, they'd have picked Pacers. There was a lot of talk about a young talented team without playoff experience benefitting from the IST. Kings vs. Pacers would be fantastic.
he's obviously not the same after the hamstring injurychecking in
Right. They are also fully set for life at their first contract extension. There is no incentive for them to come back before they are absolutely perfect. Further pussification of the NBA, right up there with 7'2" guys hanging around the perimeter jacking threes and the "space to land" leg kick flopping bullshit.it is now the age of player empowerment and they know they are getting support to sit until they are 100 percent healed . 90% is not good enough. That’s a gross oversimplification but it sure feels that way sometimes.
