Spurs Thread - Victor Wembanyama ROY, runner-up DPOY; Spurs pick #4 and #8

So much fun to watch him play. And the team is tons of fun when they aren't playing with one hand tied behind their backs (the more... experimental things pop has tried)

Another thing that has been great to see recently is the guys are trying to make crazy passes only wemby can catch. They are missing plenty at the moment but early season they wouldn't even try. They'll begin to zero on on what his sweet spots are for throwing those passes.

Also, wemby brings the ball too low too often. Leads to a decent % of his turnovers at this point. He'll clean that up with experience.

Tre with 22/5/3 at the half vs. the Bulls. No Wemby because it's the 2nd half of a back to back. No one else has more than 7.

Pop said last night that Wemby's restrictions would last for another week and a half or so.

The Spurs won their 4th 3rd quarter in a row erasing an 8 point deficit. It's tied at 94 entering the 4th.

Tough close loss. Had the lead late but couldn't put it away. Vassell and Sochan combined for 5-28 from the field. Barlow and Mamu were solid at C. Couldn't do much against Vucevic and Drummond though.

Tre had 30/9/4. He needs to be the PG until they trade for someone else.

Zach Collins back at the Hornets. Blake Wesley has been playing well in decent rotation minutes.

Those are solid numbers for Tre.

He seems like he could simply be the starting PG.

I still don't think these 5 as starters would go 7-30 or whatever ridiculous record they have.

Jones
Vassell
Keldon
Sochan
Wemby

It seems like that group can win. Instead we get 25+ games with Sochan at PG and shit went sideways fast.

Could they have gotten Siakam?

If yes, then this group could and should win:

Jones
Vassell
Keldon
Siakam
Wemby

6th man Swiss Army knife Sochan.

Sigh...

Wemby Watch:

Apparently the spurs have let it be known that no one should call wemby after 9:30 PM. He likes to read before bed.
Carry on.

Vassell has had a nice week after his slump. He's averaging 20.3 pts on 51% from the field and 40% from deep.

Last night vs. Sixers:
Branham - DNP-CD
Wesley - 6 pts, 2 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl, 0 to on 3-6 fg

So it looks like after all the experiments, Pop has settled on his PGs at PG.

Gotta post this:

May be an image of basketball and text that says 'Marvin Bagley is 6'10 folks. Let that sink in. SPURS SPW SPYRS distrio distr S'

Seems like he would have fit in perfectly with Duncan, Robinson, and Elliott playing Starcraft at the hotel.

He may go to clubs to. Just seems more mature or business like than your average rookie probably is.

I feel like Wemby is going to have a huge night against Chet. Embiid put up 70 on him. Wemby will be highly motivated to drop a bunch on Chet after that.

I think we’ll find out tonight. It would be a shame to limit Wemby to 24-28 minutes vs. Chet.

Wemby has 274 points in his last 276 minutes (11 games). He’s ready to explode.

Tre Jones out. Blake Wesley making his second start.

Looks like Wemby is off the minutes restriction. He's played 23 minutes so far in the 3rd quarter.
