Finally he shows some balls. It's a couple years too late, but finally he did.

He's calling out the Tea Party and th GOP for attacking women's health as the only sticking point is about Planned Parenthood.

Over 1 MILION women use PP for cacner screenings. NOT A SINGLE penny goes to apying for anytthing related to abortion.

Yeah, it took a lot of balls not to pass a budget last year and now pretend that its the Republicans' fault we can't pass one this year.

Oh and thank goodness he stood up for that Cowboy Poetry Festival in Nevada. What a hero.

Typical RW response. Reid AGREED to the GOP cuts.

Sounds like our fine elected politicians continue debating nickel and dime budget issues instead of the real drivers of our unconscionable deficit.

and I would argue that some of the stuff they are 'nickeling and diming' is for really good programs

There are a lot of really good programs funded by the federal government that the US can no longer afford, at least not at current funding levels.

only because we will never SLASH defense or end farm subsidies. But that will obviously never happen so all the small/good stuff goes on the block first

Sorry RJ, can't support any federal tax dollars being paid to an organization that is performing 300,000 abortions per year, even it's kept "on separate books". Notice that the issue is NOT whether they are legally allowed to continue performing the abortions, just whether any federal dollars should be sent to the organization. Stopping the federal funding will not prevent them from continuing the abortions, it will simply bring the situation into compliance with the true spirit of the Hyde Amendment. Planned Parenthood doesn't even need the federal funds anyway.

Are you kidding? Planned Parenthood funding should be increased a hundredfold to further prevent unwanted pregnancies. It's the best thing you could ever do to keep people off welfare rolls. Pubs should love it.

There are TWO organizations. The organization that gets federal dollars is the nation's largest provider of mammograms and other health screening tests to low income American women.

If they are defunded women will die and the government will spend much more more to deliver fewer services.

Your position is a typical RW non-thinking stance. Reality has nothing to do with your stance.

I thought we just gave every American health care, why would anyone die as a result of this proposed cut?

You didn't think very well. All the healthcare bill did was allow everyone the ability to buy healthcare if they can afford it. And that aspect doesn't come to fruition for three mroe years.

Planned Parenthood can continue operations without Federal tax dollars. No one is preventing them from doing everything you are talking about. The issue is whether every American taxpayer becomes a defacto contributor to Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood could cease to perform abortions and they have not chosen that path. Abortions would still be available. Or, they can continue performing abortions, just not with tax dollars. I don't see how it's even controversial.

They have not performed a single abortion with a penny of federal money in almost THIRTY YEARS. Your point is total BS.

There's no discussion PP will not be defunded as long as there are enough Dems in t5he Senate to filibuster or Obama is in the WH.

There's NO chance.

Next to running Palin, Bachmann or Trump, defunding PP is the next worst thing the GOP can do going into 2012.

I take that back. what's worse than all of those put together is Ryan's Medicare plan. Maknig Medicare into a voucher system would be as bad as Mondale saying he would raise taxes.
