Just sharing.

Haven't you heard, white men are basically powerless nowadays.

Here's an interesting stat I heard on Real Time awhile back from Gavin Newsom. Pretty scary how far in the middle ages we are politically.

“This Congressional election, the last midterm, was the first time since 1979 we lost women in Congress. We now rank 90th in the world in women in legislative positions. Put this in perspective. Seventeen percent of the House of Representatives are women; in Rwanda, 56%. Think about this: Afghanistan, Iraq have more women in legislative positions - China and Cuba - than the United States of America. There’s this remarkable myth that women are doing so extraordinarily well because Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin and Nancy Pelosi sort of ascended to the top of people’s consciousness when the reality is something different… Three percent of Fortune 500 companies are run by women. Three percent. Seven percent of the directors in Hollywood, 10% of the writers in the top 250 grossing films are women. This is serious stuff. And the way women and girls are treated in budgets - you want to go back to those budgets? - how about the gender bias in budgets? How about these budget cuts disproportionately hurting and impacting women?” — Gavin Newsom on Real Time with Bill Maher 3.4.11

Those impressive numbers of female representatives mean little unless the members of the legislative bodies actually represent voters and are not merely members of party slates, where they simply vote the way their party bosses tell them to vote. Around the world there are different types of legislative bodies and electoral systems. One would have to know just how the specific countries' electoral and party systems work before one could determine just exactly what the percentage of female representatives means.

Women are given the crazy moniker too soon, esp since they screech when they speak to large groups.
