Jim Grobe on ESPNU at 2:00 pm Monday

From the horse's mouth, our gameplan for the season: Hope we get lucky.

At least things haven't changed

Whoa a whopping 2 minutes with Grobe.

Intriguingly, Grobe mentioned "behavior issues" last year twice in the first 30 seconds. Behavior issues and injuries and then behavior issues. Did not say "culture" thank god.

Said we got accustomed to throwing it with Skinner. Can't do that with Price. Take DeAndre Martin in your fantasy league! We are gonna run it.

Q about winning the ACC - we are "close" but the problem is our schedule - we play good teams every week. Darn that schedule.

Does Jim realize it took four years to reach this conclusion?

When a coach and AD blame injuries for losses, they're basically saying luck is responsible for wins.

And throw in talking about taking games to the last series (Yo Grobe, we lose almost all of those games thanks to your ridiculous conservatism) and the ball bouncing our way, and yeah, I'd say luck was the big takeaway

Exactly. Keep it close and avoid injuries is not a coaching philosophy that wins game unless the players are flat out winners and more talented more often than not.

The last few seasons all I heard from Grobe was how much he loved his team and that we would be competative. I think he's just holding his his cards closer to his chest this year. My dream is the return of cut blocking starting with the Clemson game.

injuries and luck...it's true, and always has been. maybe in the post grobe era we can move past that, but for now that's reality. if only we could have taken down nebraska, @virginia in '07, ND two years ago, and not had BC's 2nd string QB complete a 100 yard game winning drive against us, maybe then things would be different now, but they're not.

For years, Grobe has been Bullshitting us on the progress of the program. At least know we know he isn't bullshitting himself. Acknowledgement of a problem is the first step.

F))(*K the schedule. We play a representative schedule in a middle of the road conference- big friggin' deal you have to beat somebody.
Tanner can't throw it and we can't run it a because our OC and Head Coach have no imagination and no offense concept and we can't recruit
Every team has injuries some just whine less than others and get to coaching
Close is good enough for Grobe- he plays for close which is the problem- because we accept it- and he has lost or given way more close games than he has won
We are lifeless and disorganized on the field because we are now coached that way- the hair fire was put out after the OB and JG retired in place
And JG is bullshitting everyone including himself. Beats having to coach and having to do something about the program he gave up on. The kids deserve better and so do we. He had his day in the sun- he flirted with programs to flatter his own ego- then he quit on us. Its not that we lose its more how we lose. He had it and let it get away- gave it away and is unwilling or unable to work and get it back.

It's a pretty big indictment of our staff that they start a kid as a true freshman QB and then a few weeks before Fall practice of his senior year say that they can't get accustomed to throwing the ball with him.

I think Grobe would be unemployed now if he went to Nebraska after '07. They would have fired him after an 8 win season.

Or Arkansas. They would've killed Lobo after one year

In an interview with ESPN,Grobe said "We've got some guys that aren't showing a lot of maturity as far as the workout habits, and classroom habits. That RB group is probably the biggest disaster we have right now. We don't have a dependable guy right now. We'll see how it sorts itself out. We've got a guy in D Martin that could be 'that guy', but he's got to show us a little more resolve off the field to have confidence in him on the field." He went on to says that he's not worried about the OL (Ford and Chase must be OK) and really likes his new LBs. Expects big year from Kevin Johnson and Zach Thompson.

not worried about the oline? he must be the only one.
