Time for the final phase of the 2013 Grand Slam Contest. This contest runs through the 2013 season, and a winner will crowned at the end of the season. You get bonus points for participation so be sure to submit an entry for each Major.

Grand Slam standings are here: http://www.ogboards.com/forums/show...khouse-wins!?p=1354113&viewfull=1#post1354113

PGA Championship; Glory's Last Shot

FORMAT:Listed below are most of the golfers participating in the PGA Championship. You need to pick 6 of them with a total value of 400 or more. Pick carefully - your team will end up "missing the cut" if more than two of your golfers miss the cut in the event! To make your selections, send me a PM with the golfers' names and point values.

SCORING:Your score will be the aggregate of your best four golfers. Since you have to have at least four scores counting, if more than two of your golfers miss the cut, so does your team. There are also "bonus points" at the end of the tournament. If you've got the champion golfer on your team, it's -5. The runner-up gets you -3, and having the third-place golfer gets you -1 off your score.

DEADLINE:All entries must be sent to me by 7:00 AM Thursday, August 8th.

Hopefully my hot streak in the OG Boards fantasy league will continue over here.

bk fan... that's exactly what I was thinking. I just looked at the 150 list and said ... man -- the winner could come from here easily. Really good choices in this group. Gonna be tuff.

I predict that every competetive team will have two 150-point players. There are several guys on the 150-point list who shouldn't be there.....and will be huge bargains on a relative basis. The key to success this week will be picking the right two 150-point players, because there are at least 7 or 8 good options there.

Not to give up the secret to assigning the points...but the points are based on the players' odds to win e.g. Mickleson is listed as 15:1 to win. (I pull them from ladbrokes, usually) - with some minor adjustments. With Tiger being a prohibitive favorite, that lengthens the odds on the rest of the field and pushes guys into the 150 category.

Tiger is going off as like a 20% favorite to win. That's nuts.

I don't think he wins but that's a ridiculous percentage for an individual golfer.

With the premium upon driving accuracy, both Tiger and Phil will be stiffly challenged. However, if they are content to use irons or 3 metals off the tee they will be among the leaders, IMO.

Agreed. I took mostly good ball strikers and stayed away from Phil and Tiger. Fairway, green, 2 putts. Fairway, green, 2 putts. Repeat 16 more times. That'll be a good formula for this week. I looked up the 2003 results. Phil was T23 and Tiger T39.

Let's not forget that this course gave us the worst major champion of the last 30 years.

I've narrowed my 150-point list down to 4 guys....and had to cut some guys who could do very well this week (Carl Pettersson, Thomas Bjorn, Tim Clark & Jamie Donaldson, for example).

Heard from some in the know that Pettersson is completely lost on the greens right now as he transitions to the short putter.

To show you how deep the 150s are here, I had a list of seven and only one is on Bob's list.

Ian Baker Finch, Todd Hamilton, Wayne Grady, Rich Beem and Ben Curtis all say hello - in harmony. Paul Lawrie, YE Yang and Geoff Ogilvy may whisper hello too.

I didn't even look at the 150 list. Got my 6 guys and feel great about them.

Geoff Ogilvy definitely doesn't belong on that list IMO. I think Hamilton, Beem, Lawrie, and Yang all definitely do, but Yang gets a ton of credit since he beat Tiger heads up for the first time ever in a major. Lawrie snuck in to his major in the first place and so did Curtis, but I think Curtis has actually played pretty well in other majors.

I can't imagine anyone not taking Tiger in these things, regardless of what he's going off at. Hell I'd take him if he was -50 points. The goal IMO is to pick guys who are going to make the cut and Tiger has done that 96% of the time he's played in a major as a pro. He's a machine at making cuts in majors and I'd be pretty surprised if he finishes outside the top 10 this week.
