So Boehner's going to be the commencement speaker at Catholic Univ. and almost 80 faculty at several Catholic colleges have written him saying he's “among the worst in Congress” on protecting the poor, particularly his budget cuts to programs for the poor. Do you think that members of Congress have an obligation under the Constitution to ignore all Church teachings -- even those that are moral rather than doctrinal or theological?

I think if a politician rejects something- religion or anything- they're not obligated to honor a request to speak and, more to the point, the institution probably shouldn't ask them to speak.

But don't think the Catholics or any other religion or belief system is required to be moral or ethical. Boehner's assholitude has little, IMO, to do with religious beliefs- he's just a fucking pig.
